Edmonton Flying Club is seeking a qualified M1 Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (AME) to join our maintenance team.

This position is well suited to a safety-focused, hands-on AME who enjoys working in a general aviation environment and takes pride in keeping aircraft safe, serviceable, and available for flight operations.

As a busy flight training organization and flying club, our maintenance department supports a high-utilization fleet of training aircraft as well as external aircraft operating throughout the year. The successful candidate will work under the direction of and report to the Person Responsible for Maintenance / Person Responsible for Maintenance Control (PRM / PRMC) and will work closely with flight instructors, dispatch, and other operational staff to support safe and efficient aircraft operations.

Responsibilities The M1 AME will be responsible for duties including but not limited to:

- Performing scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, inspections, troubleshooting, repairs, and servicing of aircraft.
- Diagnosing mechanical, electrical, and aircraft system defects.
- Completing aircraft inspections and maintenance in accordance with applicable maintenance schedules, manufacturer requirements, and Transport Canada regulations.
- Rectifying aircraft defects and operational snags.
- Removing, installing, repairing, and replacing aircraft components and systems as required.
- Performing engine, airframe, landing gear, flight control, electrical, and related maintenance.
- Completing maintenance releases within the scope of the employee’s AME licence and company authorization.
- Accurately completing aircraft journey logs, technical records, work orders, inspection documentation, and other required maintenance records.
- Identifying required parts and materials and assisting with maintenance planning and parts procurement.
- Communicating aircraft status, anticipated completion times, outstanding defects, and maintenance concerns to the PRM / PRMC.
- Performing maintenance work in accordance with priorities and direction established by the PRM / PRMC.




- Maintaining tools, equipment, parts, and work areas in a safe and organized condition.
- Maintaining compliance with company policies, the Canadian Aviation Regulations, applicable maintenance standards, approved maintenance procedures, and the organization’s maintenance control requirements.
- Supporting a strong safety culture and identifying potential hazards or maintenance concerns before they affect flight operations.
- Assisting other members of the maintenance department as operational needs require.

Qualifications

Required:

- Valid Transport Canada M1 Aircraft Maintenance Engineer licence.
- Experience performing maintenance on piston-powered general aviation aircraft.
- Experience working with a variety of piston engines.
- Strong understanding of Canadian Aviation Regulations and aircraft maintenance requirements.
- Ability to troubleshoot aircraft systems and independently perform maintenance and repairs.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accurate technical documentation.
- Ability to follow maintenance priorities, procedures, and direction established by the PRM / PRMC.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Valid driver’s licence.
- Ability to safely perform the physical requirements of an aircraft maintenance position, including working in and around aircraft, lifting components and equipment, climbing, kneeling, bending, and working in confined or awkward positions when required.

Assets:

- Experience maintaining Cessna, Piper, Beachcraft, Grumman or similar general aviation aircraft.
- Experience in a flight school, flying club,



or high-utilization general aviation maintenance environment.
- Additional AME ratings, endorsements, training, or relevant aviation maintenance experience.
- Experience with aircraft technical records and computerized maintenance tracking systems.

Schedule This is a full time position within a seven-day-per-week flight operation.

Weekend availability is required, and the successful candidate should be comfortable working a schedule that includes weekends based on operational and maintenance requirements.

Reporting Relationship The M1 Aircraft Maintenance Engineer reports directly to the PRM / PRMC and performs maintenance duties under their direction and authority.
