The Opportunity

This is a hands-on, full-time position for a mechanically inclined, organized, and self-motivated professional with experience maintaining and repairing small engine equipment.

You'll play an essential role in keeping our field teams properly equipped, safe, and productive by maintaining and repairing our landscaping machinery, managing shop operations, and coordinating equipment and material requirements across departments.

The role combines mechanical troubleshooting, preventative maintenance, inventory management, and practical support for our field operations. You'll work independently while collaborating closely with supervisors, field staff, and suppliers to ensure equipment is reliable, well-maintained, and ready for use throughout the season.

You'll have opportunities to expand your technical knowledge, work with evolving equipment and technology, and contribute to the continuous improvement of our maintenance operations.

What You'll Do

- Maintain, service, and repair gas-powered small engine equipment, including two-stroke and four-stroke machinery, performing both routine maintenance and emergency repairs.
- Develop and follow equipment maintenance schedules in accordance with manufacturer specifications, including seasonal servicing, winterization, and off-season repairs.
- Maintain accurate, up-to-date records of equipment maintenance, repairs, inventory, and end-of-season repair requirements.
- Maintain and organize the equipment shop, including shop machinery, power tools, crew storage areas, and general housekeeping.




- Sharpen hand tools and maintain cutting equipment, including routine lawn mower blade sharpening and blade replacement.
- Perform more involved mower blade replacements using appropriate lifting equipment, stands, and tools.
- Source, evaluate, and purchase new machinery, equipment, and tools, including obtaining pricing, coordinating demonstrations or test runs, and assessing suitability for field operations.
- Monitor pricing and inventory levels, order spare parts and repair materials.
- Receive, organize, and distribute large material deliveries, assisting with the loading and unloading of heavy materials and equipment as required.
- Assist with vehicle maintenance and coordinate the movement of vehicles to repair facilities and seasonal storage locations.
- Maintain vehicle batteries during winter storage and assist with the seasonal rotation and storage of equipment.
- Deliver replacement equipment to job sites as required to minimize disruption to field operations.
- Keep current with developments in equipment, technology, and industry practices, including attending relevant training and the annual Landscape Ontario Congress trade show.
- Participate in meetings and training sessions, support the development of field staff's equipment knowledge, and contribute to a safe and professional working environment.

Technical Skills & Experience

- Valid full G driver's licence in good standing, with a clean driving abstract.
- Mechanical aptitude and a clear understanding of gas-powered equipment, including two-stroke and four-stroke engines.
- Hands-on experience maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing small engine equipment.
- Familiarity with landscaping machinery, hand tools, and workshop equipment.
- Basic electrical experience is an asset.
- Basic fabrication and drafting is an asset.
- Basic computer skills, including proficiency with smartphones, Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- A demonstrated commitment to workplace safety, hazard awareness, and the appropriate use of personal protective equipment.
- The physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs and safely handle equipment and materials.
