Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation

Our inpatient Brain Injury Rehabilitation Team (BIRT) provides multi-disciplinary rehabilitation services to children and adolescents following acquired and traumatic brain injuries (e.g., encephalopathy, brain tumour, and motor-vehicle accidents). Rehabilitation services include assessment, intervention and consultation, and the neuropsychologist will be a key player on the inter professional team.

The neuropsychologist’s main focus is to provide neuropsychological assessment services to support clients during their admission, as well as support their transition home and back to their school and community. In addition,



the neuropsychologist will be involved in providing individual and group intervention to clients and their caregivers.

Specific duties include

- The neuropsychologist offers a complete range of psychological services including assessment, intervention, consultation, education, training, and team support.
- Completes neuropsychological assessments and provides comprehensive individual and/or family feedback.
- Works collaboratively in providing supervision with psychometrists in completing assessments.
- Communicates information to the inter professional team, including members from the Bloorview School Authority, as well as the client’s home school and community teams.
- Has strong neuropsychological formulation, feedback, and report writing skills (a de-identified report example may be requested).
- Provides psychological interventions in both group and individual formats to clients and their caregivers.
- Provides intervention approaches that are appropriate to the pediatric rehabilitation setting.
- In partnership with clients, caregivers and the inter professional team, works collaboratively to provide client and family-centred care which is goal directed, evidence based and outcome oriented.
- Ability to provide appropriate education and training sessions to inter professional team.
- As a member of the Holland Bloorview Psychology Pre-doctoral Internship Program, supervises psychology practicum and internship students.
- Active participation in the BIRT program and psychology specific meetings, which may include involvement in committee work, as appropriate.

Qualifications:
- PhD in Psychology and Registration (or eligible for registration) with the College of Psychologists in Ontario required, with declared competencies in Clinical Neuropsychology and Clinical Psychology with children and adolescents.
- Previous experience working with clients and families following pediatric acquired brain injury is preferred.
- Declared competence in Rehabilitation Psychology and/or Health Psychology would be an asset.
