2026/2027, Winter Term, Course-Based Chance, Department of History – Faculty of Arts

The Faculty of Arts is seeking qualified Contract Academic Staff (CAS) to teach the following course taught in the Department of History, for the academic year, at the Brandon University Campus Session, in term 2. The course may be delivered in an online synchronous format but preference will be given to qualified candidates who will teach in-person.

Qualifications: Applicants must have successful teaching experience and relevant expertise in History. They will hold a Master’s Degree in a related field, and those holding a Ph.D. or who are at the ABD stage may be preferred. Applicants may seek to establish an experiential/traditional equivalency to a Master’s and are invited to contact the Chair of the Selection Committee on how to establish equivalent academic or professional credentials.

Salary: $8,132 per 3 credit hour course.

Winter Term: Classes run from January 5 to April 9, 2027, with an exam period following.

54:257 THE MAKING OF THE MODERN WORLD, – Slot 12 (Tues.11:40-12:30 & Thurs. 11:40-1:30)
A survey of world history from the peak of European colonization to the Second World War. This course examines the New Imperialism of the late 19th century, the collapse of the old empires around the world and the emergence of the modern state system. It will focus on the development of revolutionary challenges to this system, particularly the Russian Revolution, as well as the conflicts which led to the two World Wars.

The course will run based on sufficient enrollment and budgetary approval.
