Job Overview

We are looking for a detailed-oriented Pharmacy Assistant to join our team. You will support pharmacists in daily activities, and participate in the maintenance and operations of the Pharmacy as described by the Pharmacy Standards of Practice, and to provide superior, timely, and exceptional service to our valued customers.

Duties

- Greet customers, answer phone calls, and manage incoming prescriptions efficiently
- Support the pharmacy team with administrative tasks such as data entry, filing, and processing prescriptions
- Prepare medications for patients, including counting, packaging, and labeling
- Manage inventory: restock shelves, check for expired products, place orders (except controlled drugs and narcotics), and organize storage areas efficiently
- Process third-party insurance billing and resolve billing issues.
- Assist with the preparation of specialized medication regimens like blister packs
- Maintain precise records of prescriptions, medication logs, and patient information in compliance with regulatory standards
- Ensure cleanliness and organization of the pharmacy environment to uphold health and safety standards
- Locate and cash out prescriptions and any ancillary items
- Ensure customers requiring counseling are referred to the Pharmacist




- Maintain and control the cash register in the dispensary
- Adhere to all confidentiality and privacy requirements

Requirements

- Skills: Strong attention to detail, excellent communication, problem solving
- Education: High School Graduation Certificate; Certified Pharmacy Technician Diploma preferred
- Experience: Experience in a retail pharmacy environment is an asset, but not required for all roles
- Attitude: Positive, cooperative, and team-oriented
- Physical: Ability to stand for extended periods
- Software Knowledge: Familiarity with pharmacy management software, Kroll, is often highlighted as a major asset
- Willingness to learn and adhere to all safety protocols and regulatory requirements
- Demonstrated organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively
