Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Project Superintendent to join our high-growth organization. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented, driven individual with strong leadership skills who takes pride in their work. This position plays a key role in meeting project deadlines and supporting overall customer satisfaction.

The individual will lead daily site operations on heavy civil construction projects, including roads, bridges, highways, and municipal infrastructure. Working closely with the Project Manager, the Project Superintendent coordinates crews, subcontractors, equipment, and materials to deliver safe, productive work that meets project schedules and quality requirements.

Core Responsibilities

- Lead field operations from mobilization through closeout; supervise forepersons, crews, and subcontractors and communicate daily priorities.
- Plan labour, equipment, materials, and deliveries; develop lookahead schedules and adjust work sequencing with the Project Manager.
- Coordinate earthworks, grading, drainage, underground services, roadwork, and bridge activities as required by the project.
- Interpret drawings, specifications, and approved work plans; identify conflicts and obtain clarification before work proceeds.
- Lead toolbox talks, hazard assessments, and site inspections; address unsafe work and report incidents, near misses, and equipment concerns.
- Coordinate utility locates, traffic staging, site access, and environmental controls; implement project safety plans and permit requirements.
- Coordinate survey layout, inspections, testing,



and deficiency correction with consultants, inspectors, and subcontractors.
- Track quantities, productivity, labour and equipment hours; maintain daily reports, photographs, and information for as-built records.
- Identify changes, delays, and site risks promptly; provide supporting records and collaborate with the Project Manager on corrective action.
- Mentor field staff and maintain professional relationships with clients, consultants, suppliers, and the public.

Qualifications

- 5+ years of progressive heavy civil field experience, including leadership as a superintendent or senior foreperson.
- Experience with road, bridge, highway, or municipal infrastructure projects and coordinating crews, subcontractors, and heavy equipment.
- Ability to read construction drawings and specifications; strong knowledge of construction methods, sequencing, and quality control.
- Familiarity with OPSS/OPSD, MTO or municipal standards, utility coordination, and construction safety requirements.
- Robust communication, planning, and problem-solving skills; proficiency with digital drawings, daily reporting tools, and Microsoft Office.
- Valid Ontario driver’s licence and willingness to travel. Relevant construction education, trade qualifications,



and supervisor safety training are assets; equivalent field experience will be considered.
