Position Overview The Mechanical & Piping QA Inspector is responsible for verifying that mechanical, piping, and rotating equipment construction and installation activities are completed in full compliance with approved drawings, project specifications, applicable codes, standards, and regulatory requirements.

This role provides in office quality oversight for piping systems, mechanical equipment, and rotating equipment to ensure work is completed safely, correctly, and in accordance with project requirements, supporting successful commissioning and project turnover.

Responsibilities

- Perform Mechanical, Piping, and Rotating Equipment QA/QC inspection activities in accordance with project requirements.
- Ensure all Mechanical and Piping Inspection & Test Plan (ITP) stages are followed, verified, and properly documented.
- Read and interpret P&IDs;, piping isometric drawings, mechanical drawings, equipment drawings, specifications, and datasheets.
- Inspect piping fabrication and installation, including fit-up, alignment, welding, supports, flange assembly, bolting, valves, pressure testing, and reinstatement.
- Inspect mechanical and rotating equipment installation, including pumps, compressors, turbines, gearboxes, generators, and associated equipment, as applicable to the project.
- Verify equipment installation, alignment, leveling, grouting, foundation/interface requirements, and preservation in accordance with approved procedures and manufacturer requirements.
- Demonstrate strong knowledge of applicable ASME, CSA, API, and project-specific codes, standards, specifications, and procedures.
- Conduct surveillance, witness points,



and hold points in accordance with approved ITPs and contractor RFIs.
- Monitor daily mechanical and piping activities to ensure compliance with approved procedures, drawings, specifications, and quality requirements.
- Verify materials, equipment, weld documentation, welder qualifications, inspection records, and applicable testing requirements.
- Coordinate and witness hydrostatic/pneumatic testing, pressure testing, flushing, cleaning, NDE, and other required mechanical tests.
- Identify, document, and report Non-Conformances (NCRs) and follow up on corrective and preventive actions.
- Coordinate with subcontractors, construction teams, engineering, commissioning, and client representatives to resolve quality-related issues.
- Maintain accurate and organized QA/QC documentation, inspection reports, ITP records, checklists, test packages, equipment records, and turnover documentation.
- Ensure timely completion and submission of all inspection reports, test records, punch-list items, and quality documentation.
- Participate in mechanical completion, system walkdowns, punch-list activities, and final turnover.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to junior QA/QC inspectors when required.

Required Skills & Qualifications

- 10+ years of QA/QC experience, preferably with significant Canadian industrial, Oil & Gas, energy, or construction experience.




- Strong experience in mechanical and piping inspection.
- Demonstrated experience with rotating equipment, such as turbines, compressors, pumps, gearboxes, generators, or similar equipment.
- Strong ability to read and interpret P&IDs;, piping isometrics, mechanical drawings, equipment drawings, and project specifications.
- Experience with piping fabrication, installation, welding, fit-up, alignment, supports, valves, flanges, pressure testing, and reinstatement.
- Experience with mechanical equipment installation, inspection, alignment, and testing.
- Knowledge of applicable ASME, CSA, API, and project-specific codes and standards.
- Experience with ITPs, RFIs, NCRs, inspection reports, test packages, turnover documentation, and quality records.
- Experience coordinating or witnessing NDE and pressure testing.
- Ability to work independently in an active construction/project environment.
- Strong communication and documentation skills.
- Ability to coordinate effectively with contractors, subcontractors, engineering, construction, commissioning, and client representatives.
- Relevant QA/QC, mechanical, piping, welding, or inspection certifications are considered an asset.

Job Type: Full-time Pay: $50.00-$75.00 per hour
