Position Summary The Quality Control Technician is responsible for performing the final inspection of completed window coverings before they are approved for packaging and shipment.

Each shade is placed on a testing hoist and fully inspected for appearance, operation, dimensions, components, and overall workmanship. The Quality Control Technician is the final checkpoint in the production process and is responsible for identifying defects, recording issues, and ensuring that only products meeting Sun Glow's quality standards are released for shipment.

This position requires strong attention to detail, consistency, good judgment, and the ability to identify both functional and cosmetic defects.

Key Responsibilities

- Inspect each completed window covering on the quality control hoist before packaging.
- Raise and lower shades through their full operating range to confirm smooth and proper operation.
- Inspect shades for wrinkles, waves, tracking issues, telescoping, crooked fabric, uneven bottom bars, and other visual defects.
- Confirm that shades hang level and operate correctly.
- Inspect fabric for marks, stains, damage, imperfections, incorrect colour, or incorrect material.
- Confirm the correct product, fabric, colour, operating system, hardware, and options have been manufactured according to the production order.
- Verify significant measurements and finished dimensions when required.
- Check cassettes, fascia, headrails, bottom bars, side channels, brackets, end caps, chains, handles, and other components for proper installation and appearance.
- Test manual operating systems including chains, cordless systems, and other control mechanisms.
- Test motorized shades to confirm correct operation, direction, limits, and general functionality where applicable.
- Inspect products for scratches, dents, exposed fasteners, loose components, poor cuts, adhesive issues, or other workmanship defects.
- Confirm labels, accessories, brackets, and required hardware are included where applicable.
- Identify products that do not meet quality standards and prevent them from proceeding to packaging.




- Clearly document defects and communicate required repairs or remakes to the appropriate production department.
- Reinspect repaired products before approving them for shipment.
- Record quality issues accurately in the company's production or quality control system.
- Take photographs of completed products or defects when required for quality records.
- Identify recurring quality problems and report trends to the Production Manager.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe quality control inspection area.
- Follow all company safety procedures when operating the hoist and handling completed window coverings.
- Assist with continuous improvement initiatives designed to reduce remakes, repairs, and customer complaints.

Quality Inspection Standards The Quality Control Technician should evaluate every shade from both a functional and visual perspective, including:

Operation

- Smooth raising and lowering
- Correct stopping and positioning
- Proper chain or control operation
- Correct motor operation
- No unusual noise, binding, or resistance

Fabric and Appearance

- Fabric is clean and undamaged
- Fabric hangs straight
- No excessive wrinkles, waves, bowing, or skew
- No telescoping or tracking problems
- Bottom bar is straight and level
- Fabric and components match the order

Assembly

- Components are securely installed
- Cassette, fascia, headrail, and bottom bar are properly assembled
- End caps and accessories are correctly installed
- No scratches, dents, adhesive residue, or visible manufacturing defects

Order Accuracy

- Correct dimensions
- Correct fabric and colour
- Correct operating system
- Correct control side
- Correct hardware and options
- Correct accessories included

Qualifications
- Previous experience in manufacturing, assembly, quality control,



or window coverings is an asset.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to identify small visual or mechanical defects.
- Comfortable working with measurements and production documentation.
- Ability to follow established quality standards consistently.
- Good communication skills and ability to clearly describe defects or production issues.
- Ability to work independently while coordinating with production, repair, and packaging teams.
- Basic computer skills for entering inspection results and reviewing production orders.
- Experience with motorized window coverings or electrical testing is an asset but not required.
- Training on Sun Glow products, quality standards, and operating systems will be provided.

Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand for extended periods.
- Ability to repeatedly raise, lower, inspect, and handle window covering products.
- Ability to safely lift and move completed shades and components.
- Comfortable working around production equipment and an inspection hoist.
- Ability to visually inspect products from close range and from several feet away.

Pay: $20.00-$23.00 per hour Expected hours: 40.0 per week
