Job Summary:

The Ramp Attendant is responsible for performing all duties and responsibilities related to ground operations at the Wasaya Airways YQT terminal, including the general administration of day-to-day YQT Ramp Operations.

This is a permanent, full-time position based at the Thunder Bay Airport.

Responsibilities:

- Identify problems and make recommendations towards solutions
- Load and unload cargo and baggage as directed by Flight Crew
- Monitor and communicate any delayed baggage to CSA
- Marshall aircraft as required
- Operate aircraft ground equipment and push-back aircraft as required
- Light grooming of aircraft as required
- Assist with boarding of special needs passengers as required
- Maintain control of baggage and cargo accordingly
- Configure aircraft as required
- Complete all necessary equipment checks, documentation and paperwork
- Ensure customer care to all passengers
- Cargo acceptance and inventory control
- Maintain grounds as required (i.e: snow removal, grass cutting, garbage cleanup, etc)
- Prompt reporting of all accidents, injuries and incidents
- Perform and uphold Wasaya’s Customer Care Commitments to both internal and external customers
- Any other related duties as assigned under the IAMAW agreement

Qualifications

- High School diploma or equivalent is an asset.
- Previous baggage and cargo handling experience preferred
- Valid driver’s license and ability to obtain T.B.I.A.A AVOP license is required




- Ability to meet security requirements to obtain Restricted Area Pass
- Demonstrated ability to operate material handling equipment including forklift truck
- Able to communicate both verbally and in writing.
- Basic mathematical skills
- Able to work efficiently as a part of a team as well as independently
- Computer literacy, including working skills of Excel and e-mail
- Attention to detail in all areas of work
- Positive organizational, time management and prioritizing skills
- Must be able to work with minimal supervision
- Ability to communicate in Oji-Cree or Ojibway is an asset
- Overtime as required.
- Weekend work may be required.
- Travel may be required
- Hazards associated with trade
- May be exposed to loud noise, dirt, oil and fumes
- Indoor and outdoor work is required
- Ability to lift or move up to 70 lbs.; repetitively.
- Manual dexterity is required to use desktop computers and peripherals.
