Olds Hospital and Care Center has an exciting opportunity as a Perioperative/PACU Registered Nurse. We are excited to be working on expanding our programs in alignment with the Alberta Surgical Initiative and are looking for a dedicated Perioperative/PACU Registered Nurse to join our team. As a Perioperative/PACU Nurse, you will report to the Site Manager and will be responsible for providing perioperative patient care, utilizing the nursing process in accordance with College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA), Operating Room Nurses Association of Canada (ORNAC) and Canadian Standards Association (CSA).

You will demonstrate full-scope competence in delivering protected, effective, and efficient care in both the scrub and circulating roles as an integral part of the surgical team. With a growing industrial base and a flourishing agricultural economy, Olds is a hidden gem located in Central Alberta. Olds boasts several excellent recreational facilities, many parks and trails.

Description

As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values.

PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit holders will be paid $40.76 to $55.79 per hour. Upon obtaining a full practice permit,



the rate of pay will be adjusted to the applicable Registered Nurse rate in accordance with UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii), as applicable.

Required Qualifications

Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification.

Additional Required Qualifications

Successful completion and certification from an approved Perioperative Nursing program. Participating in on call as required. Minimum two years’ experience within the last five years in an Operating Room in both the scrub, circulating, Team Lead and PACU roles.

Critical care background and/or previous Recovery Room (PACU) experience. Ability to work in a past paced environment. Effective communication and critical thinking skills are required for this role. Ability to be standing for long periods, and lifting up to 20 lbs.

Preferred Qualifications

Must have the Perioperative Nursing program, ORNAC certificate. Experience with ortho, urology, c-sections, plastic and gyne surgeries is an asset. Connect Care Training for the OR and PACU is preferred. ACLS.
