Objective

Reporting to the Product and Programming Manager, the Research Assistant (Contract Position – 4 months) will support a strategic research project focused on residential homebuilding across North America. This role offers a unique opportunity to explore industry-leading practices, conduct market research, visit showhomes, analyze data, and help shape recommendations that will influence future business decisions.

Key Responsibilities

As a Research Assistant, you will gather, organize, and analyze information from top North American and local home builders to identify trends and best practices related to:

- Home model portfolios and product offerings
- Model options, structural choices, and upgrade packages
- Interior finish selection processes
- Design studio and palette-based selection programs
- Customer personalization experiences

Your responsibilities will include:

- Conducting desktop research using websites, marketing materials, public resources, and industry publications
- Visiting showhomes and sales centres to observe and document customer experiences
- Collecting and organizing research findings in spreadsheets and databases
- Analyzing qualitative and quantitative data to identify trends, opportunities, and key insights
- Collaborating with internal stakeholders and project leaders throughout the research process
- Preparing summaries, presentations, and a final report with findings and recommendations

Qualifications and Education Requirements





- Post-secondary education or equivalent experience in business administration, marketing, communications, research or related fields

- Experience in research, data analysis, market analysis or related role considered an asset

- Experience in residential home building, land development, real estate or related role considered an asset

- Strong computer literacy including: MS Office, Canva, AI

Preferred Skills

- Excellent written and oral communication

- Ability to manage and effectively prioritize multiple priorities, deadlines and perform well in a fast-paced environment

- Comfortable collecting, organizing, and analyzing data

- Solid attention to detail and pride in workmanship

- Comfortable conducting both in-office and field-based research

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

- This position is a temporary, 4 month contract
- This position requires minimum 37.5 hours per week
- Location is primarily in the head office, Downtown Edmonton, with occasional site visits, as required.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit; use hands to handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk; or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand and walk. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
