Reporting to the Manager, Community Programs, the Senior Instructor, Academic Studies provides educational leadership and supports the administration and delivery of the Academic Studies Program at Nunatta Campus in Iqaluit. The position instructs a variety of courses using adult education principles, evaluates student learning, and supervises instructors within the Academic Studies section.

The Senior

Instructor works collaboratively with College staff to deliver relevant adult education programming that prepares learners for further post-secondary education and entry-level employment.

Main Responsibilities For The Senior Instructor, Academic Studies Include

- Planning and delivering courses using a variety of adult education strategies




- Evaluating learner progress, performance and academic achievement
- Developing and updating curriculum, course materials and learning activities
- Providing educational leadership, mentorship and guidance to instructors
- Providing academic and career counselling, assessments and referrals for learners
- Supervising instructors, including performance, attendance and leave management
- Ensuring course delivery meets College academic policies and standards
- Supporting program planning, reporting, resource management and continuous improvement

The knowledge, skills, and abilities required for this job are usually obtained through:
- Bachelor of Education with a specialization in post-secondary or a related field; and
- Three (3) years of experience instructing adult learners in a post-secondary institution; and
- Supervisory experience, preferable in a college formal learning setting; and
- Cross cultural experience, preferably in the North.

The Official Languages of Nunavut are Inuktut, English and French. Applicants may submit their resume in any of the official languages of Nunavut. Fluency in more than one of Nunavut’s official languages would be considered an asset. Knowledge of Inuit communities, culture, land,Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit, Inuktut and experience working in a northern cross-cultural environment are also considered assets.
