Join Our Team!

We are looking for a Senior HSE Program Coordinator to join our Calgary team. This position is is responsible for administering and continuously improving Synergy Projects' Health, Safety & Environment program.

About the Role

Reporting to the HSE Manager, the Senior HSE Coordinator supports the effective administration of Synergy Projects’ Health, Safety & Environment program through safety planning, compliance monitoring, COR maintenance, and training coordination. Working closely with project teams and field leadership, this role helps ensure safe operations and compliance with both regulatory and company safety requirements.

This role combines office-based administration with regular travel to active construction sites.

Health, Safety & Environment Program

- Support continuous improvement initiatives for the company safety program.
- Develop, update, and maintain safety policies and procedures.
- Monitor and analyze safety statistics to identify trends and opportunities for improvement.
- Provide timely reporting and recommendations to management regarding safety performance and regulatory changes.
- Assist in the administration and compliance of the company safety program.
- Coordinate procurement and distribution of PPE to employees.




- Maintain COR certification through internal audits and program reviews.
- Provide leadership and support to the company Safety Committee.

Site Safety Support

- Conduct project safety inspections and audits.
- Attend safety meetings and participate in project hazard assessments.
- Assist Site Superintendents with developing site-specific emergency response plans.
- Enforce Occupational Health & Safety legislation and company safety policies.
- Provide health and safety information and guidance to employees.
- Liaise with subcontractors, clients, and project safety representatives as required.
- Exercise stop-work authority when unsafe conditions or violations of safety requirements are identified.

Training & Development

- Manage and coordinate the company's Safety Training Program.
- Schedule and facilitate employee safety training through internal and third-party providers.
- Maintain training records within the online safety management system.
- Conduct safety orientations for new field and office employees.
- Support coaching, mentoring, and safety awareness initiatives across project teams.

Incident Management & Claims Administration

- Review and investigate workplace incidents and recommend corrective actions.
- Administer WCB claims and related documentation.
- Coordinate rehabilitation and return-to-work programs for injured employees.
- Maintain accurate records and reports related to incidents and claims management.

Qualifications

- National Construction Safety Officer (NCSO) Certification required.
- OHS Certificate and/or post-secondary education in Occupational Health & Safety is considered an asset.
- Gold Seal Construction Safety Coordinator designation is considered an asset.

Experience & Skills





- Minimum 5-7 years of construction safety experience.
- Experience in the commercial construction industry.
- Strong knowledge of Occupational Health & Safety legislation and industry best practices.
- Experience conducting incident investigations, safety inspections, and audits.
- Previous training experience with the ability to coach and mentor employees.
- Knowledge of WCB claims management and return-to-work programs.
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
- High attention to detail and ability to work independently or collaboratively.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, email, and web-based systems.
- Experience with contractor prequalification systems such as ISNetworld, ComplyWorks, Avetta, or CQN is considered an asset.

Working Conditions

- Approximately 60% field/site work and 40% office-based administration.
- Regular travel to project sites is required.
- Valid driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle are required.
- Exposure to active construction environments, including walking, climbing, lifting, and complying with PPE requirements.
- Overtime may be required to meet project and reporting deadlines.
