SENIOR SITE SUPERINTENDENT FOR COMMERCIAL / LIGHT INDUSTRIAL CONSTRUCTION

Johnston Builders Ltd. is looking for a motivated and experienced SENIOR SITE SUPERINTENDENT to join our dynamic team on a full-time basis. While the position will initially report through and work from our St. Albert office, project assignments and work locations may vary with requirement for the Senior Superintendent to lead or support projects in remote communities or elsewhere in Western and Northern Canada as opportunities evolve.

You’ll play a key role in delivering quality leadership by working closely with the project team from project award to completion.

Responsibilities include: · Oversee site construction ensuring a safe, clean, and organized worksite.

· Work closely with project team during construction to project completion.

· Communicate closely with planning departments and permit authorities. Arrange for inspection as required.

· Coordinate and schedule construction on site. Complete / update 3 week look ahead schedules.

· Work closely with the project manager, project coordinator, project/ regional director and other JBL field and office staff as necessary to collaborate on all aspects of the project.

· Complete daily reports.





· Oversee and enforce project safety as per the Health & Safety program on site. Ensure all safety documentation is up to date and collaborate with the HSQ Manager as required.

· Complete time sheets and manage all man hours on site.

· Issue field Purchase Orders for some materials, equipment and small contract work.

· Work closely with PM, PC and Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable personnel to ensure accurate and timely invoicing, payables and change orders.

· Complete force Accounts as required.

· Ensure quality control and quality assurance during the construction duration. Ensure document control for QA/QC is up to date

· Ensure work is conducted in accordance with Johnston Builders Operation Procedures Manual.

· Complete updated set of Record Drawings.

· Complete items on the deficiency report.

Ideal candidates will possess the following attributes:

· To qualify for this role, you'll need at least 15 years of experience in the construction industry, with at least 10 years of site and leadership experience (minimum of 5 years on larger $50M+ projects).

· Proficient in reading and understanding plans and shop drawings.

· Remote/northern project experience is considered a strong asset.

· Proven attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.

· Intermediate level computer skills including the ability to competently operate Microsoft Word, Excel, email, Bluebeam (PDF) writer as well as Project Management software platforms such as Autodesk (ACC)

· Advanced communication skills, both written and verbal.

· Very effective organizational and time management skills.

· Proven leadership qualities with the ability to develop, coach and mentor team members.

· Analytical and problem-solving skills.





· You must have a clear understanding of the Building Code, and the commercial and light industrial construction industry including a variety of construction methodologies such as Structural Steel, Concrete, Wood Framing, Mass Timber, Modular, Pre-Fab, etc. as well as a variety of different contract delivery methods such as fixed price, design-build and construction management type contracts.

· A Valid Class 5 Drivers License is required for this role.

Hours of Work: The regular hours of work for this position are expected to be between 40 and 44 hours per week. Due to the nature of the role and business requirements, the incumbent is expected to maintain a reasonable degree of schedule flexibility. Work schedules, start and end times, and weekly hours may be adjusted from time to time to meet operational needs.

Compensation and Benefits:

You will receive a market-competitive salary of $150k-$165k, negotiable dependent on skills and qualifications along with a wide host of benefits including:
