With a large and fast-moving commercial fleet, maintaining equipment reliability, minimizing downtime, and keeping our operations running efficiently are critical to our business.

We are currently seeking an experienced, organized, and results-driven Shop & Fleet Maintenance Supervisor to lead our evening shift maintenance operations. This position requires a strong team leader who can manage a high-volume shop environment, prioritize repairs, coordinate mechanics, control maintenance documentation and invoices, and work closely with Fleet, Safety, Dispatch, and Operations.

Key Responsibilities

- Oversee day-to-day shop and fleet maintenance activities during the evening shift.
- Supervise, support, and coordinate mechanics, technicians, and shop staff.
- Assign and prioritize repair and maintenance work based on operational urgency.
- Monitor preventative maintenance schedules and ensure services are completed on time.
- Coordinate repairs, inspections, breakdowns, and equipment availability.
- Ensure trucks and equipment are repaired efficiently and returned to service as quickly and safely as possible.
- Review work orders and ensure repairs, parts, labour, and services are properly documented.
- Review and verify maintenance invoices, repair bills, parts invoices, and vendor charges for accuracy.
- Coordinate with external repair facilities, dealerships, parts suppliers, and service vendors when required.
- Monitor repair costs and identify opportunities to control unnecessary maintenance expenses.
- Maintain accurate fleet maintenance records, inspection documentation, service history, and supporting paperwork.
- Track outstanding repairs and follow up until completion.




- Communicate equipment status and expected completion timelines to Fleet, Dispatch, Safety, and Operations.
- Ensure mechanics follow company procedures, safety requirements, and quality standards.
- Support regulatory inspections and ensure equipment remains compliant and road-ready.
- Identify recurring mechanical issues and escalate concerns appropriately.
- Manage multiple priorities and urgent maintenance requirements in a high-volume, fast-paced transportation environment.
- Provide clear shift updates and proper handover of outstanding maintenance matters.
- Support continuous improvement of shop processes, workflow, productivity, and fleet reliability.

Qualifications & Experience

- Previous experience in fleet maintenance, heavy-duty truck maintenance, shop supervision, or a similar transportation maintenance role is required.
- Previous supervisory or team leadership experience within a busy shop or fleet environment is strongly preferred.
- Strong understanding of commercial trucks, trailers, preventative maintenance, inspections, repairs, and fleet maintenance operations.
- Experience reviewing work orders, repair invoices, parts invoices, vendor bills, and maintenance-related documentation.
- Strong ability to prioritize equipment based on operational requirements and repair urgency.
- Ability to manage a high volume of maintenance requests without losing attention to detail.
- Strong understanding of shop workflow, technician productivity, equipment downtime, and repair turnaround.
- Excellent leadership and people-management skills with the ability to hold the team accountable while maintaining a positive working environment.
- Strong communication and coordination skills.
- Excellent organizational,



follow-up, and problem-solving abilities.
- Comfortable working with maintenance records, spreadsheets, fleet systems, email, and other computer-based tools.
- Ability to make sound decisions independently in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong attention to detail when reviewing invoices, repair documentation, and maintenance records.
- Ability to communicate professionally with mechanics, drivers, vendors, managers, and other departments.
- Red Seal certification or relevant heavy-duty/commercial transport mechanical certification is considered a strong asset.

What We’re Looking For We are looking for someone who is sharp, proactive, organized, dependable, and confident in leading a busy shop environment.

The successful candidate should be able to take ownership of the evening maintenance operation, manage competing priorities, provide direction to the team, follow up consistently, and ensure that important repairs do not get overlooked.

This role is well suited for someone who understands that successful fleet maintenance is not only about completing repairs—it also requires planning, communication, cost awareness, documentation, accountability, and strong coordination with Operations.

Flexibility may be required depending on fleet maintenance requirements and operational needs.

Compensation
