Join our dedicated snow removal team as a Sidewalk Snow Removal Crew Member and help keep our community safe and accessible during winter months! In this vital role, you will be responsible for clearing sidewalks, pathways, and other designated areas of snow and ice, ensuring secure passage for pedestrians. Your energetic approach and attention to detail will contribute to maintaining a welcoming environment despite challenging weather conditions.

Duties

- Manually shovel snow from sidewalks, walkways, entrances, and other designated pedestrian areas, ensuring surfaces are cleared to a safe, walkable condition
- Monitor snowfall and begin clearing operations once accumulation reaches approximately 2.5 cm, per standard snow removal practice
- Clear snow to the full width of walkways and pile it in designated areas without blocking entrances, exits, fire routes, or accessibility ramps
- Apply salt or ice-melt product evenly across cleared surfaces after each snow clearing to prevent ice buildup and maintain safe footing
- Conduct follow-up shoveling and touch-up clearing after municipal plows have deposited snow along adjacent routes




- Perform repeat cleanings throughout the duration of prolonged or heavy snow events to keep walkways continuously safe and accessible
- Inspect cleared areas for ice patches or missed snow and address them promptly
- Report any hazards, property damage, or safety concerns to the site contact
- Respond promptly to call-outs at varying hours, including early mornings, evenings, and weekends, based on weather conditions
- Maintain and organize shovels, salt supplies, and the salt bin so equipment is ready for the next snow event

What We're Looking For

- Available and reliable throughout the full winter season (November 1 – April 30)
- Comfortable working outdoors in cold weather and winter storm conditions
- Physically able to shovel snow for extended periods
- Punctual and able to respond quickly when a snowfall event begins, sometimes on short notice
- Detail-oriented — able to follow a set route and clear all designated areas thoroughly
- Previous snow removal or outdoor labor experience is an asset but not required
- No driver's license or equipment operation experience needed — this role is 100% manual/shovel work

This role is perfect for motivated individuals eager to contribute to community safety during winter months while gaining valuable outdoor maintenance experience! Pay: $17.60-$22.00 per hour

Expected hours: 21.0 per week
