247 Snow Removal & Lawn Care is seeking a dependable and experienced Equipment Operator / Crew Lead to join our growing Edmonton-based company.

This is a permanent, year-round position—not a winter-only seasonal role. The position involves snow and ice management during the winter and lawn care, landscaping, cleanup, and property-maintenance work during the warmer months.

A minimum of 30 paid hours per week is guaranteed during the winter snow-removal season. Spring, summer, and fall hours will be scheduled according to lawn-care and property-maintenance workloads.

The successful candidate must be comfortable operating snowplows, skid steers, trucks, trailers, and professional lawn-care equipment. The individual must also be capable of leading a small field crew, assigning work, monitoring safety and quality, and keeping the team productive throughout each shift.

Flexibility is essential during snow events, including availability for early mornings, evenings, overnight shifts, weekends, and statutory holidays.

Crew-Leadership Responsibilities

- Lead and support a small snow-removal or lawn-care crew
- Review assigned routes, properties, and service requirements with crew members
- Assign daily tasks based on operational priorities and team capabilities
- Provide clear instructions, coaching, and hands-on assistance when required
- Monitor crew attendance, productivity, conduct, and compliance with safety procedures
- Ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and to company quality standards
- Inspect completed work and arrange corrections before leaving a property
- Confirm that assigned properties and service areas have been completed
- Ensure service photographs, snow logs, job notes, and other required records are completed accurately
- Communicate progress, delays, incidents, equipment problems, and staffing concerns to management
- Maintain a respectful, professional, and productive working environment
- Serve as the primary field contact when management is not present

Winter Responsibilities

- Operate pickup trucks equipped with snowplows




- Operate skid steers and approved snow-removal attachments
- Clear snow from parking lots, driveways, sidewalks, entrances, and other assigned areas
- Apply ice melt, salt, or traction materials as directed
- Complete assigned residential and commercial service routes safely and efficiently
- Coordinate crew activities during snow events and changing site conditions
- Perform manual snow clearing using shovels and snow blowers when required
- Respond promptly when called in for a snow or ice event
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles, trailers, and equipment
- Complete service records, snow logs, photographs, and incident reports accurately
- Report equipment problems, property damage, safety hazards, or service delays immediately

Spring, Summer, and Fall Responsibilities

- Operate commercial mowers, trimmers, blowers, aerators, and other lawn-care equipment
- Complete lawn mowing, edging, trimming, blowing, and general property cleanup
- Coordinate daily lawn-care routes and crew assignments
- Assist with spring and fall cleanups
- Load, secure, transport, and unload equipment using company trucks and trailers
- Perform routine cleaning and basic maintenance of vehicles and equipment
- Assist with fertilizer application and other property-maintenance services when assigned
- Inspect completed work to ensure company and customer expectations have been met
- Maintain a professional appearance and provide courteous service at client properties
- Support crew members to ensure jobs are completed safely and on schedule

Required Qualifications

- Valid Alberta Class 5 driver’s licence
- Clean driver’s abstract
- Demonstrated experience operating a truck-mounted snowplow
- Demonstrated skid-steer operating experience
- Experience operating professional lawn-care equipment
- Experience safely towing, backing, connecting, and parking utility or equipment trailers
- Previous experience leading, supervising, or coordinating a small field crew
- Ability to provide clear direction, delegate tasks, and hold crew members accountable
- Confidence making operational decisions while working in the field
- Confidence driving in winter conditions and periods of reduced visibility
- Ability to work independently and follow assigned routes and service instructions
- Ability to use a smartphone for navigation, job updates, photographs, and service documentation
- Strong attendance, punctuality, communication, organization, and time-management skills




- Ability to communicate professionally with customers, employees, and management
- Ability to perform physically demanding outdoor work in extreme heat, cold, snow, and changing weather
- Ability to repeatedly lift and carry up to 50 lb
- Availability for early mornings, evenings, overnight shifts, weekends, and statutory holidays during snow events
- Legal authorization to work in Canada

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience completing residential and commercial snow-removal routes
- Experience with salting, de-icing, and ice-control procedures
- Experience training or onboarding field employees
- Experience performing basic equipment inspections and minor maintenance
- First Aid, WHMIS, ground-disturbance, or equipment-operation certifications

Schedule This is a permanent, year-round position.

During the winter snow-removal season, a minimum of 30 paid hours per week is guaranteed. The employee must remain available for work when snow, freezing rain, or icy conditions occur.

Winter shifts may begin early in the morning or continue during evenings, overnight periods, weekends, and statutory holidays. Shift lengths and start times will vary depending on snowfall, route requirements, and weather conditions.

During spring, summer, and fall, work will generally be scheduled during daytime hours. Weekly hours will depend on lawn-care, cleanup, landscaping, and property-maintenance workloads.

Compensation

- $22–$26 per hour
- Starting wage will be based on relevant experience, leadership capability, and demonstrated equipment-operating ability
- Candidates who meet all equipment-operation and crew-lead requirements may qualify toward the upper end of the range
- Overtime will be administered in accordance with applicable Alberta employment standards
