Role

We are seeking a dependable Snow Shoveler to provide weekend snow removal support on Saturdays and Sundays as required. The successful candidate will work closely with our weekday Snow Shoveler, who is responsible for Monday–Friday coverage, with both team members expected to provide back-up support for one another as operational needs arise. While the primary schedule is weekends, this role offers the potential for additional hours during the week, including coverage for snow events and absences.

Candidates should be reliable, responsive, physically capable of performing outdoor winter work, and available to assist on short notice when required.

During the winter months, this person will be responsible for the snow removal, de-icing and, maintenance of walkways and stairs at Trinity United Church at 400 Stevenson St N, Guelph. The work will be considered “on-demand” as it is very much impacted by the weather.

This position will report into Trinity’s Property Committee.

Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

- Removing snow from the sidewalks, walkways to the church building, and steps and ramps including the entrance to the Gingerbread House Daycare Centre.




- Spreading ice melter or sand or salt as needed.
- The snow must be cleared and walkways salted (if required) each day by 8:00 AM.
- If there are special events in the evening, a second clearing may be required.

Working Conditions

- This position will be for the winter snow season – November 1, 2025 – April 15, 2026
- The person must be able to meet the physical demands of this job. Snow shoveling requires coordinated, repetitive use of the body's major muscles groups (legs, arms, chest, upper back), pushing and heavy lifting.
- Work hours will depend on weather conditions. The person in this role must be available with less than 24 hours’ notice.
- Weekly work hours can range from zero hours to fifteen hours per week.
- The rate of pay is $22.00 per hour.
