Status

Position Summary

As a member of the Complex Behaviour Support Team within Specialized Learning Supports, the Social Work Consultant provides intensive case management, direct individual and small-group clinical interventions, classroom coaching and strategy modeling, and specialized risk assessments. Serving as a vital bridge between home, school, and community systems, the Social Worker Consultant assists families in navigating external support networks while guiding school teams through complex case conferences and restorative practices to build sustainable wrap-around care, foster belonging, and enhance student well-being.

Job Duties/Responsibilities

- Provide classroom-based coaching, modelling and observation to help educators implement proactive, trauma-informed,



and neuroaffirming strategies supporting student participation, regulation, and safety.
- Support school teams in addressing social, environmental, and contextual factors affecting student safety and educational participation.
- Deliver individualized and small-group mental health and emotional well-being interventions while managing systems-based cases and coordinating wrap-around support across school, home, and community services.
- Act as a vital link between schools, families, healthcare professionals, and external agencies to coordinate comprehensive care, and guide resource access.
- Conduct specialized risk assessments and co-develop student-centered safety and support plans.
- Facilitate complex case consultations, transdisciplinary post-incident debriefs, and restorative processes grounded in a trauma-informed, neuroaffirming framework to promote emotional safety, relationship repair, and collaborative team recovery following periods of distress or crisis.
- Design and facilitate skilled learning and mentor colleagues to deepen Division-wide understanding of complex student needs, family systems, trauma, neurodiversity, and mental health. Coordinate service delivery,



maintain accurate caseload records and documentation, and provide crisis intervention, stabilization, and debriefing support to students and staff following critical incidents.

Education/Qualifications

- Master's degree in Social Work
- Active registration with the Alberta College of Social Workers
- Minimum three years of experience providing intensive case management and delivering individual and group interventions with students
- Knowledge and applied practice of trauma-informed, neuroaffirming, and systems-based approaches within educational and community settings
- Experience participating and facilitating complex case conferences and restorative conversations Experience conducting specialized risk assessments

Rate of Pay $54.10 - $69.19 per hour
