Role Description

This part-time Sushi Cook role at Ba Ke Moto is an on-site position based in Downtown Calgary, AB.

The Sushi

Cook is responsible for preparing sushi and other menu items, including handling seafood, cooking rice, assembling rolls, and finishing dishes with artistry. Daily tasks include maintaining strict hygiene standards, organizing ingredients, monitoring inventory, and ensuring consistent quality and portion control. The role also involves coordinating with kitchen team members, communicating with staff, and supporting a smooth service during peak hours.

The Sushi

Cook is expected to uphold food safety regulations, follow restaurant guidelines,



and contribute to menu improvements.

Qualifications

- Strong food preparation skills, including ingredient handling, cutting, and portioning.
- Knowledge of hygiene and food safety practices, with the ability to maintain a clean and organized workstation.
- Proficiency in cooking techniques relevant to sushi and Japanese cuisine, including rice preparation.
- Experience working with seafood, including safe handling, storage, and preparation for raw and cooked dishes.
- Solid culinary skills, with an eye for presentation, flavor balance, and consistency.
- Previous experience in a professional kitchen workplace is an asset.
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure, stand for extended periods, and handle repetitive tasks.
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach to working with diverse team members.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by restaurant operations.
- Culinary training or certification in food safety and sanitation is beneficial.

Pay: $15.00-$27.00 per hour
