Our client, a well-established organization in Edmonton , is seeking a System Administrator to join their team.

The organization is currently decommissioning its existing data centre and continuing its migration into Microsoft Azure. This role will support the day-to-day server environment while contributing to cloud migration, server modernization, and infrastructure improvement initiatives.

This is a great fit for a well-rounded System Administrator with practical Azure experience — our client does not require an Azure architect or cloud expert, but this person should be comfortable working hands-on within an Azure environment.

THis is a permanent role - hybrid 4 days a week in Edmonton.

What You’ll Do

- Administer and troubleshoot a predominantly Windows Server environment across Azure and remaining on-prem infrastructure.
- Provision and configure Azure virtual machines, including resources, operating systems, tagging, and access.
- Support ongoing data centre decommissioning and Azure migration efforts.
- Manage regular server patching and update cycles, including testing and scheduled deployments.
- Help administer Tanium for server provisioning and patch management.
- Troubleshoot infrastructure incidents using ServiceNow.
- Administer Microsoft 365,



Active Directory, and Entra ID, including users, licensing, permissions, groups, and Group Policy.
- Provide occasional support for SharePoint and OneDrive.
- Collaborate with dedicated Networking and Security teams when issues cross into those areas.
- Participate in the infrastructure team's on-call rotation.

What You Bring

- Proven experience as a System Administrator or Infrastructure Administrator.
- Hands-on Azure and Windows Server administration, maintenance, and patching experience.
- Hands on experience with building Azure virtual machines.
- Strong background administering Microsoft 365, Active Directory, and Entra ID (Group Policy, permissions, licensing).
- Experience troubleshooting infrastructure incidents within structured ITSM/change-management processes (ServiceNow experience preferred).
- Experience with Tanium and PowerShell scripting is considered a strong asset.
- A self-starter and solid problem solver who takes ownership to independently investigate and resolve issues.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across cross-functional teams.
