Manga Hotel Group is a Canadian company involved in the acquisition, development and management of high-quality residences and hotels affiliated with prestigious brands such as Hilton, Marriott, Hyatt and Intercontinental Hotels Group and independent hotels. Manga has been building and developing commercial real estate since 1998.
Over the years, it has completed 21 new projects and has at least 9 more projects in the pipeline, including low-rise, mid-rise, and high-rise construction. Currently, Manga Hotels owns and operates 36 hotels with over 6800 rooms across Canada and in the United States, 18 food and beverage outlets and 5 residential properties with several new properties and developments in the pipeline.
As Manga Hotels continues to expand, we are actively seeking talented individuals to join our growing team.
We Are Looking For A skilled and highly experienced Vice President of Construction with at least 10 years of experience managing construction projects from pre-construction through project completion. The successful candidate will oversee all aspects of construction, development, planning, design and construction including budgeting, procurement, contract administration, scheduling, quality assurance, and project delivery for low-rise, mid-rise, high-rise development.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Oversee and manage the day-to-day operations of multiple construction projects, including pre-construction and post-construction activities.
- Prepare and manage comprehensive project plans and business cases addressing scope, cost, budget, resources, risk, benefits and quality expectations of construction projects.
- Lead negotiations with consultants, contractors, subcontractors, suppliers, and other third parties and oversee purchase orders and monitor progress and schedules.
- Review and coordinate the development of construction documentation, including schedules, tender packages, budgets, and specifications.
- Develop and manage detailed construction budgets and monitor project costs throughout the project lifecycle.
- Ensure compliance with plans, specifications, building codes, health and safety requirements, and other regulatory requirements.
- Review, analyze, and manage contract changes, drawings, specifications, and project documentation.
- Oversee tendering processes and construction-related document preparation.
- Direct bid evaluations and recommend contractor, consultant, and vendor selections.
- Manage procurement strategies, vendor relationships, and material sourcing to achieve value engineering and cost optimization objectives.
- Establish and maintain internal procedures and systems to ensure efficiency, consistency, and compliance across all construction projects.
- Oversee the recruitment, onboarding, training,
and performance of construction team members.
- Work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders in a complex, results-oriented entrepreneurial organization together with stakeholders and be able to achieve an aggressive growth objectives.
- Review all project deliverables upon completion of construction, coordinating including inspections, deficiency documentation, prepare close-out documentation, warranty administration, and final project turnover.
Qualifications and Experience
- Minimum 10+ years of progressively increasing responsibility overseeing construction projects, with significant experience in residential, high-rise, and hotel construction.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, Project Management, Business, or a related field.
- Thorough understanding of applicable building codes, construction regulations, and licensing requirements.
- Strategic thinker with strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality.
- Solid analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrated experience in budgeting, scheduling, cost control, financial reporting, procurement, and contract administration.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, professional demeanor, and strong computer proficiency.
- Comprehensive knowledge of project management principles, including budgeting, scheduling, procurement, contract management, conflict resolution, project execution, and project close-out.
- Proven leadership experience managing multidisciplinary project teams and contractors across multiple concurrent projects.
