We are recruiting a Personal Support Worker for a female employer with Parkinson's/Lewey Body who requires assistance with Activities of Daily Living.

The employers interests include Royal family history, outings in community (Starbucks, Purdy’s, clothes shopping) and watching TV shows (British, Comedy, Mystery and Jeopardy)

Start Date:

- As soon as possible

Location:

- Victoria (Near Tudor beach)

Shifts & Hours of Work:

- Friday to Monday every weekend
- Shift start time: 9:00 am
- Backup/on-call every other day if someone calls in sick etc.
- Staff stay for the 72hrs - bring their own linen for the suite

Compensation:

- $350 per day

Responsibilities will include (but may not be limited to):

- Assists with personal care services, such as showering (every second day (standby assist)), toileting, dressing, oral hygiene and grooming
- Needs assistance dressing and undressing - pulling up pants, briefs, compression stockings and shoes
- Assists with transfers, range of motion exercises and other stretching exercises
- Assist with developing a nutritious meal plan, shop for groceries and prepare meals
- Standby assist anytime the employer is up walking (bathroom, etc..)
- Collaborates with the employer's other service providers to support the employer's independence and rehabilitation program
- Support family by maintaining a calendar to track and coordinates the employer's appointments and activities
- Performs safety maintenance activities by ensuring home is tidy and explicit of obstructions, and other duties such as cleaning up after meals and assisting with laundry of bedding and clothing (to be done when needed)
- Carries out the above duties at the employer's home and in the community,



as required and arranged with the employer and her family
- Drives and accompanies to appointments, errands and activities (all outings are in wheelchair)
- Log blood pressure readings in book (AM MID PM)
- Medication administration throughout day (AM MID PM BED)
- Nightly care commode assistance

Required Qualifications:

- Caregiving experience required
- Valid BC Class 5 Drivers License and a clean driving record is required
- Covid and flu vaccinations must be up to date
- Must be a non-smoker
- Communicate competently in English, in oral and written form
- Able to understand written and oral instructions.
- Willing to undergo a criminal record check
- Willing to be trained as required for the application of medication, performance of physiotherapy, stretching, etc.
- Able to establish and maintain harmonious relationships with the employer, her family, professional associates, friends, etc.
- Willing to maintain confidentiality
