We are seeking a knowledgeable, responsible, and engaging AP History Tutor to support high school students in preparing for AP History courses and examinations, including AP U.S. History (APUSH), AP World History: Modern, and/or AP European History.

Responsibilities

- Provide one-on-one or small-group tutoring for AP History students.
- Help students understand key historical events, themes, concepts, and chronological developments.
- Teach students how to analyze primary and secondary historical sources.
- Develop students’ skills in historical reasoning, including causation, comparison, continuity and change, and contextualization.
- Provide instruction and practice for AP exam components, including multiple-choice questions (MCQs), short-answer questions (SAQs), document-based questions (DBQs), and long essay questions (LEQs).
- Guide students in developing solid thesis statements, evidence-based arguments, and well-organized historical essays.
- Review students’ assignments, essays, quizzes, and practice exams and provide constructive feedback.
- Develop individualized study plans based on each student’s academic level, strengths,



and areas for improvement.
- Track student progress and communicate academic feedback to students and, when appropriate, parents or the academic team.
- Provide targeted AP exam preparation, including test-taking strategies, time management, and practice with AP-style questions.
- Maintain a supportive, encouraging, and academically rigorous learning environment.

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in History, Education, Humanities, Social Sciences, or a related field.
- Strong knowledge of U.S., World, and/or European History.
- Familiarity with the AP History curriculum and examination format.
- Strong academic writing, research, and historical analysis skills.
- Excellent English communication and teaching skills.
- Ability to explain complex historical concepts clearly to high school students.
- Responsible, patient, organized, and student-focused.
- Previous experience teaching or tutoring AP History is preferred.

Pay: $20.00-$28.00 per hour
