We are looking for an experienced second bookkeeper to join our team, with a particular focus on CRA processes, filings, and compliance.
Our main bookkeeper will continue to oversee the bookkeeping and day-to-day accounting. This position will work alongside them as a second set of hands, with CRA-related work being your main area of expertise.
We are looking for someone who has strong overall bookkeeping experience, but who is especially knowledgeable and experienced when it comes to CRA. When a CRA question or issue comes up, we want someone who is comfortable digging into it, figuring out what needs to be done, and helping get it resolved.
While CRA will be a major focus of the role, you will also be responsible for regular bookkeeping tasks and other work delegated by the main bookkeeper.
What you’ll be doing
- Assisting with bookkeeping for multiple companies
- Preparing and filing GST returns and other CRA filings
- Assisting with CRA accounts, notices, assessments, and correspondence
- Researching and helping resolve CRA questions and discrepancies
- Dealing directly with CRA as needed
- Reconciling GST and other CRA-related accounts
- Assisting with payroll remittances and related CRA requirements
- Recording and reconciling intercompany transactions between companies
- Assisting with year-end preparation and providing information to the accountant
- Completing regular bookkeeping tasks and reconciliations
- Taking on bookkeeping tasks and projects as needed
- Identifying areas that need attention rather than waiting to be given every task
- Making suggestions and bringing forward ideas to improve processes or address issues
- Providing additional support during busy periods or when needed
What we’re looking for:
- Several years of bookkeeping experience
- Strong, hands-on experience with CRA processes and filings
- Comfortable dealing directly with CRA and navigating CRA accounts
- Strong knowledge of GST and payroll remittances
- Experience with intercompany transactions and reconciliations
- Experience working with multiple companies is an asset
- Strong attention to detail and reconciliation skills
- Comfortable researching CRA requirements and working through issues
- Experience with QuickBooks Online
- Self-starter who can see what needs to be done without being given a task list
- Able to work independently while knowing when to ask questions or bring something forward
- Someone who looks for ways to improve things and is comfortable making suggestions
- Good communication and organizational skills
- Willingness to take on a variety of bookkeeping tasks as required
The ideal person for this role is someone who is a strong all-around bookkeeper, but has a particular strength in CRA. We want someone who can be our go-to person when we have a CRA question or issue, while also being able to jump in and help with the rest of the bookkeeping when needed.
We are looking for someone who doesn't need to be told what to do every step of the way. You should be able to look at the books, see what needs attention, take care of what you can, and bring forward questions or suggestions when something needs further discussion.

As the role develops, there is an opportunity for this person to take on more responsibility and potentially become the primary bookkeeper for our WINMAR franchise. We are looking for someone who is interested in growing with the company and taking on more responsibility over time.
This isn't a management position and you won't be taking over the overall bookkeeping. You'll be working closely with our main bookkeeper as the second bookkeeper, with CRA and compliance being your primary area of focus.
