Location: We are seeking a Catering Captain for the St. John's Convention Centre, located in St. John's, NFLD.

Principle Function:

The Catering Captain at Sodexo Live oversees the on-site execution of catered events, acting as the lead for the catering team and ensuring all aspects of service meet client and company standards. This role involves directing staff, managing timelines, and maintaining communication between team members to provide seamless and professional service. The Catering Captain ensures that events run smoothly, with an emphasis on guest satisfaction and operational efficiency.

As a hands-on leader, the Catering Captain works closely with the Catering Supervisor and event coordinators to ensure all logistics, from setup to breakdown, are executed flawlessly. This position demands a detail-oriented,



proactive individual who can adapt quickly to changes and maintain a calm, professional demeanor under pressure.

Essential Responsibilities:

- Lead catering staff during events, delegating tasks, and ensuring high service standards.
- Coordinate with kitchen staff and event planners to ensure accurate execution of event details.
- Troubleshoot issues on-site and maintain transparent communication with team members and clients.

Qualifications/Skills:

- Proven experience in catering operations or leadership roles within the food service industry.
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to adapt to last-minute changes.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a focus on teamwork and guest satisfaction.
- Availability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Other Requirements:

- Able to work effectively and safely while subject to wet floors, temperature extremes and excessive noise; must be able to lift up to 50 pounds in weight; must be able to maneuver in an often tightly-quartered environment.
- Hours may be extended or irregular to include nights, weekends and holidays.
