Role Description The Cloud Engineer – Data Platform is a full-time remote role responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining cloud-based data platforms that support analytics, applications, and business operations. Typical tasks include building and configuring data infrastructure, setting up scalable and secure cloud environments, and managing data storage, processing, and integration services. The role involves developing automation scripts and tools, optimizing performance and cost, monitoring systems, and troubleshooting issues across cloud, compute, and storage layers.

Engineer collaborates closely with software developers, data engineers, and stakeholders to understand requirements, implement best practices, and ensure reliability, security, and compliance of data platforms.



The position also includes documenting architectures, contributing to standards, and continuously improving the platform through evaluation of new technologies and services.

Qualifications

- Robust Cloud Computing skills with experience designing and operating data platforms on major cloud providers (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP).
- Infrastructure skills in building and managing scalable, secure environments, including networking, storage, and containerization.
- Software Development skills for scripting and automation (e.g., Python, Bash, Terraform, CI/CD tools) to deploy and manage data platform components.
- Proficiency with Linux administration for managing servers, services, security, and performance in cloud-based environments.
- Experience working with Databases (relational and NoSQL), including data modeling, performance tuning, backup, and recovery.
- Knowledge of data engineering concepts such as ETL/ELT pipelines, data integration, and analytics workloads is highly beneficial.
- Understanding of security, compliance, and governance best practices in cloud and data platform environments.
- Ability to work independently in a remote setting, collaborate across teams, and communicate clearly with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Prior experience in cloud engineering, data platforms, or DevOps roles in a professional environment is preferred.
