Role description:

This position is intended for an experienced municipal construction professional capable of independently performing construction inspection services for municipal infrastructure and land development projects. The successful candidate will represent Arcadis in the field, working collaboratively with contractors, clients, municipalities, developers, and project teams to ensure construction is completed in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, municipal standards, and industry best practices.

Role accountabilities:

POSITION DUTIES

- Perform construction inspection services for municipal servicing, grading, stormwater management, roadworks, and land development projects.
- Monitor construction activities to confirm compliance with contract drawings, specifications, municipal standards, OPSS requirements, and approved permits.
- Act as Arcadis' on-site representative during construction activities.
- Coordinate with contractors, developers, municipal inspectors, utility agencies, testing laboratories, and project team members.
- Attend and participate in site meetings as required.
- Document construction progress, deficiencies, corrective actions, and field decisions.
- Observe testing activities and verify completion of required quality control and quality assurance processes.
- Monitor site safety practices and report safety concerns to appropriate parties.
- Assist project managers and engineers with construction administration activities.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Inspect and documents installation of:

- Watermains
- Sanitary sewers
- Storm sewers
- Stormwater management facilities
- Roadworks
- Sidewalks and curbs
- Site grading works
- Erosion and sediment control measures
- Utility coordination works
- Prepare daily site inspection reports, field diaries, photo documentation, and quantity tracking records.
- Review contractor progress and advise project management staff of potential issues affecting schedule, budget, quality, or constructability.




- Monitor field changes and communicate discrepancies between design drawings and site conditions.
- Verify construction materials and workmanship meet project requirements and municipal standards.
- Track deficiencies and monitor corrective actions through completion.
- Support substantial performance reviews, assumptions inspections, and project closeout activities.
- Maintain professional working relationships with contractors, municipal staff, developers, utility companies, and clients.
- Provide clear and timely communication regarding construction progress and emerging issues.

- Working knowledge of Ontario municipal specifications and standards
- Familiarity with OPSS and OPSD standards
- Understanding of contract drawings, specifications, and servicing plans

MUST-HAVE

- Minimum 10 years of experience in municipal infrastructure, land development, or construction inspection.
- Demonstrated experience inspecting municipal servicing and grading works.
- Strong understanding of watermain, sanitary sewer, storm sewer, roadworks, and stormwater management construction.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
- Valid Ontario Driver's Licence.
- Reliable personal vehicle available for travel to project sites.
- Solid written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Comfortable working in active construction environments.

COMPENSATION & EXPENSES

- Competitive hourly rate based on experience and project requirements.
- Mileage reimbursed in accordance with Arcadis corporate policies.
- Personal vehicle required.
- Personal PPE required,



including CSA-approved safety boots, hard hat, high-visibility vest, and other standard construction safety equipment.
- Position is part-time as-needed and project-driven with no guarantee of minimum hours or ongoing work.

The salary range for this position is $72,000- $100,000. The base salary represents Arcadis’ hiring range for this position. Actual salaries will vary and will be based on various factors, such as location, skills, experience, and qualification for the role.
