Overview

Corner Brook Pulp and Paper is currently seeking a Power System Technician to work at Deer Lake Power. This is a unionized position.

The Power System

Technician is responsible for maintaining the protection and control systems used in the operation of Deer Lake Power’s generating stations, substations, transmission and distribution facilities, dams, water-control structures and remote sites.

Responsibilities The candidate will be responsible for the following:

- Inspect, calibrate, and maintain protective relays, control systems, annunciation systems, metering equipment and associated AC and DC control circuits.
- Perform functional testing of alarms, trips, permissives, interlocks, control sequences and protection schemes.
- Maintain accurate equipment records, calibration results, test reports, relay settings, configuration files, maintenance histories, drawings and technical documentation.
- Diagnose equipment and system failures, identify deficiencies, implement repairs and support root cause investigations.
- Support the installation, configuration, testing, commissioning and return-to-service of current or modified equipment and software.




- Providing technical support and site knowledge to operations personnel, maintenance employees, engineers, contractors, consultants, vendors and original equipment manufacturers.
- All other duties related to the job classification

Qualifications The successful candidate must have:

- Electronic/Electrical Engineering Technology Diploma
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role
- Computer proficient, particularly in the Microsoft Office Suite;
- Have recent WHMIS training and Standard First Aid certification
- Successful candidate will be required to submit a Certificate of Conduct from a local police agency or the RCMP before commencing employment.
