The Role

PETRONAS Canada is seeking an experienced Drilling Superintendent to provide operational leadership for its Montney drilling campaign. The successful candidate will be responsible for the secure, efficient, and cost-effective execution of drilling operations for PETRONAS Canada, ensuring wells are delivered safely, on schedule, and within budget. Working closely with Drilling Engineering, Wellsite Supervisors, and cross-functional stakeholders, the Drilling Superintendent will drive operational performance through strong HSE leadership, contractor management, technical oversight, and continuous improvement initiatives.

This role will be based in our Calgary head office on a 15-days-on, 13-days-off schedule, with occasional travel to field locations as required.

This is a safety sensitive position, and therefore you are required to pass pre-employment drug and alcohol screening.

This is a one-year contract position.





How You Will Contribute

- Provide operational oversight and leadership of all drilling activities, including contractor management, wellsite supervision, safety performance and operational risk management
- Deliver Montney horizontal drilling programs safely, on schedule, and within budget
- Champion a strong safety culture through risk management, incident investigation, and corrective actions
- Recruit, mentor, and manage Wellsite Supervisors
- Conduct regular field visits, contractor assurance reviews, and operational audits.
- Work with Drilling Engineering to execute drilling programs, manage risks, and review MOCs
- Lead and participate in DWOPs, pre-spud meetings, offset well reviews, and lessons learned sessions
- Develop scopes of work, participate in tender evaluations, and support contractor selection processes
- Identify opportunities to improve drilling performance, reduce NPT, and lower well construction costs
- Manage AFEs, monitor expenditures, approve invoices, and maintain WellView data quality
- Provide operational updates to leadership and collaborate with internal stakeholders (Development, Completions, Production, Facilities, Finance, Supply Chain, Land, and HSE teams)
- Provide leadership during significant operational events, emergency response situations, and well control incidents
- Participate in a rotational on-call schedule, providing 24-hour operational support and response to operational matters during assigned work periods

What You Bring





- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent combination of education and industry experience
- Minimum 10 years of drilling operations experience, including unconventional resource development
- Experience overseeing multi-rig drilling operations and horizontal pad drilling programs
- Strong understanding of drilling operations, well construction, contractor management, HSE systems, and regulatory compliance
- Experience with WellView, AFE management (SAP), cost control, and invoice approval processes
- Proven leadership, communication, stakeholder management, and decision-making skills
- Experience with well control operations and recovery
- Familiarity with British Columbia regulatory requirements
- Willingness to work collaboratively, field questions and challenge the status quo
- Valid class 5 driver’s license (or equivalent) with a clean driver’s abstract and current valid safety and wellsite supervision tickets
