Role Description: This is a full-time Geotechnical Engineer role based in Calgary, AB.

The Geotechnical

Engineer will perform geotechnical assessments and prepare design recommendations for tailings dams and tailings harvesting. The role involves preparing technical reports, collaborating with multidisciplinary project teams, and supporting project delivery from proposal through construction.

Engineer will also liaise with clients, participate in project meetings, and ensure work complies with applicable standards, regulations,



and Thurber’s quality procedures.

Qualifications

- Demonstrated experience in site investigation, including planning, execution, and interpretation of field and laboratory testing data.
- Strong understanding of tailings behavior, including classification, characterization, and application to engineering problems.
- Applied expertise in geotechnical engineering, with skills in analysis and design for tailings storage facilities, slope stability, and ground improvement.
- Knowledge of engineering geology principles and their use in assessing ground conditions, hazards, and constructability.
- Proficiency in dam design for water and tailings retention structures, familiarity with relevant Canadian codes and standards.
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Geotechnical Engineering (Master’s degree is considered an asset).
- Professional engineer registration (P.Eng.) in Alberta or another province, or working toward registration.
- Experience with geotechnical analysis software, and strong technical report writing skills.
- Effective communication, collaboration, and time-management skills, with a focus on safety and quality.
