Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Housing Support Worker to join our dynamic team. In this vital role, you will provide essential support to individuals experiencing housing instability or homelessness, helping them access safe, stable, and affordable housing options. This position works collaboratively with landlords, government departments, community organizations and other service providers to develop practical, individualized solutions that support housing stability and reduce the risk of homelessness.

The role is client-centred, trauma-informed, strengths-based and prevention-focused, with an emphasis on early intervention, housing retention and long-term stability.

Duties

- Assist clients in navigating housing applications, lease agreements, and related documentation, with clear guidance and support
- Conduct thorough case management by assessing client needs, developing personalized support plans, and monitoring progress regularly
- Maintain accurate records through data entry and manage client information securely
- Actively and creatively engage in eviction prevention initiatives and shelter diversion
- Connect individuals with appropriate housing, financial and community resources




- Connect clients with food, clothing, personal-care items and household resources.
- Assist individuals in accessing community meals and food-security programs.
- Provide client transportation where appropriate

Requirements

- Minimum two-year diploma in Social Sciences, Social Work, Human Services, Community Studies or a related field.
- Experience working with individuals experiencing or at risk of homelessness, housing instability, poverty or other complex social barriers, or experience providing direct client support, advocacy, referrals or systems navigation is considered an asset.
- Demonstrated understanding of trauma-informed, client-centred and strengths-based practice.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries.
- Current First Aid/CPR certification.
- Valid Driver’s License & access to a reliable private vehicle for required work-related travel.

Pay: $26.00 per hour

Expected hours: 35.0 per week
