Intermediate Mechanical Designer

Salary: $65,000-$78,000

Location: Mississauga, ON

Hours: Monday- Friday 9:00 am-5:00 pm

:

- Spearhead complex 3D models, assemblies, customer drawings, and production drawings using SolidWorks
- Create and review 2D drawings as per GD&T; standards
- Design new and retrofit lighting fixtures from concept to production release
- Develop and maintain bills of materials, design documents, design standards, templates, and workflows
- Meet with customers and vendors to ensure designs meet all required specifications
- Evaluate and recommend design improvements based on feedback from internal and external stakeholders
- Support continuous improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities to improve products, processes, and design practice
- Design products to comply with material and fire-smoke-toxicity declarations,



along with regional or international standards
- Conduct design reviews and verify design compliance with customer requirements, applicable standards, and internal procedure
- Provide guidance and mentorship to junior designers ,electrical, methods, and testing departments to create jigs, prototypes, or production parts

Requirements and Experience

- 3+ years in a design engineering role or 5+ years in a manufacturing engineering role
- Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Technology, or Equivalent
- Experience with 3D modeling software such as SolidWorks, CATIA, Inventor, Pro-E, Fusion 360 etc.
- Experience using a PDM system and revision management
- Proficiency with GD&T;, manufacturing processes, and DFM (Design for Manufacturability
- Knowledge in machining, injection molding, die casting, and metal / plastic extrusion processes
- Be a strong team player with excellent communication skills
- Have excellent organizational, reporting, and follow-up skills
- Comply with all TDG Policies and Programs

Preferred Skills

- Strong proficiency with SolidWorks
- Understand how costing and manufacturing methods / processes work together
- Familiar with rail and photometry standards as per international or regional requirements
- Ability to mentor junior team members

Education

- Diploma in Mechanical Engineering Technology (Design) / University degree in Mechanical Engineering.
