The chance

Hamilton Sports Group is seeking a Junior Accountant to support accurate and timely financial reporting for the Hamilton Tiger-Cats, Forge FC, Hamilton Sports Group Foundation (HSGF) and related operations. Reporting to the Accounting Manager, you will collaborate with the finance team to complete daily accounting activities and meet recurring month-end and reporting deadlines. You will take ownership of assigned reconciliations, general ledger analysis, working papers and department reporting, while supporting treasury, banking, merchandise accounting and game-day operations.

What Success Looks Like

- Daily treasury activity and reporting are accurate, current and fully supported, with outstanding items identified and escalated promptly.
- Assigned bank, retail merchandise, food and beverage, fixed-asset and other general ledger reconciliations are completed accurately and within established timelines.
- Monthly working papers and department financial reports are complete,



audit-ready and delivered on schedule, with clear follow-up on discrepancies and open items.

What You’ll Own

- Support assigned daily treasury activities and reporting, update bank activity and maintain complete documentation for cash transactions and accounting entries.
- Prepare monthly bank reconciliations and investigate outstanding or unusual items to support accurate cash reporting.
- Record daily retail merchandise activity and complete monthly Shopify and Erply reconciliations by comparing sales, payments, deposits and general ledger activity.
- Complete assigned monthly general ledger analysis and prepare clear, well-supported working papers for review by the Accounting Manager.
- Maintain fixed-asset records and supporting schedules, including additions, disposals and other assigned month-end updates.
- Prepare recurring t financial reports and supporting schedules for review by the Accounting Manager.
- Support HSGF 50/50 game-day operations at Tiger-Cats and Forge FC events as scheduled and assist with other finance priorities and process improvements as assigned.

How You’ll Work You will manage your assigned responsibilities independently while working closely with the finance team and colleagues across the organization. Success in this role requires accuracy, sound judgment, organization and dependable follow-through. You will communicate clearly about outstanding items, raise discrepancies promptly, maintain complete supporting documentation and contribute to practical improvements in finance processes. What You Bring

- A diploma or degree in accounting, finance, business administration or a related field, with a solid understanding of accounting principles.
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills and the ability to organize, analyze and reconcile financial information accurately.
- Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to producing complete, accurate and well-supported accounting work.
- The ability to organize competing priorities, meet recurring daily and month-end deadlines,



and follow established finance processes in a fast-paced organization spanning professional sports and community impact.
- Clear, professional communication skills and the confidence to ask questions, follow up on outstanding items and raise discrepancies to the Accounting Manager.
- A dependable, team-first approach and availability to support all Tiger-Cats home games and designated Forge FC home games, based on the finance team’s game-day schedule.

Assets—not Requirements

- Previous accounting, bookkeeping, financial reporting or treasury experience gained through employment, a co-op placement or an internship.
- Experience with Sage 50 or comparable accounting software.
- Experience with Shopify, Erply or other point-of-sale and retail merchandise systems.
- Progress toward a Canadian accounting designation, or an interest in continuing accounting education and professional development.
