About Artistic Stairs

Artistic Stairs manufactures and installs custom stair and railing systems across Western Canada. We combine craftsmanship with practical problem-solving and we’re bringing that same approach to how we use technology.

We’re investing in internal software, automation and connected business systems. We’re looking for an early-career developer who wants to help turn ideas into reliable tools that people use every day.

The Opportunity

You’ll work directly with company leadership and employees to understand business needs, improve existing prototypes and develop new applications and automations.

This role suits someone curious, resourceful and comfortable learning as they go. You might be a recent graduate, a self-taught developer or someone with a solid portfolio of personal projects. A specific degree isn’t required—we’re interested in what you can build, how you solve problems and how well you understand your work.

The position offers broad exposure to software development, AI-assisted development, integrations and real business operations. You won’t be expected to know everything, but you will need to ask good questions, recognize your limits and communicate when something needs further review.

What You’ll Do

- Build, improve, test and maintain internal web applications and business tools.
- Help turn working prototypes into structured, reliable and maintainable applications.
- Create automations that reduce repetitive work and improve information flow.
- Connect applications and business platforms through APIs.
- Support integrations involving Microsoft Azure, Microsoft 365, SharePoint and Business Central.




- Use AI-assisted development tools while understanding, reviewing and testing the code they produce.
- Work with databases, application data and user access controls.
- Follow secure development practices, protect sensitive information and flag issues requiring specialist review.
- Use Git and GitHub to manage changes, document work and support code review.
- Troubleshoot problems and make small, testable improvements to existing systems.
- Work with employees to gather feedback and understand how applications perform in practice.
- Document setup, integrations and key technical decisions so others can support the work.

What We’re Looking For

- Demonstrated ability to build software, web applications, integrations or automations.
- Experience with JavaScript or Python, and a willingness to learn the other.
- Familiarity with HTML, CSS and the basics of how web applications work.
- A basic understanding of APIs, databases and source control.
- Interest in AI tools and their practical use in software development.
- An understanding of basic security practices, including protecting credentials, handling sensitive data and controlling access.
- The ability to explain your code, troubleshoot problems and verify that a solution works.




- Strong communication skills and comfort working with people who aren’t developers.
- Attention to detail, follow-through and a willingness to learn from feedback.

Experience with Node.js, Microsoft Azure, Microsoft 365, SharePoint, Business Central APIs, automated testing or application deployment is an asset, but isn’t required.

A relevant diploma or degree is welcome. We also value personal projects, school projects, freelance work and other examples of demonstrated ability.
