Description:

Under the general direction of the Assistant Director, Labour Relations, the LR Projects Specialist provides a broad range of project, reporting and administrative support to the Labour Relations team.

The incumbent serves as the primary point of contact for divisional HR offices on a range of central reporting requirements and initiatives, including but not limited to, the USW seniority list, Redeployment Pool List, Bargaining Unit Review Committee notifications, and recurring reporting requirements to the various bargaining units. The incumbent investigates and resolves discrepancies arising out of the central reporting requirements, develops and produces complex data reports, making informed recommendations to Labour Relations staff regarding issues impacting their client groups.

The incumbent coordinates and advances projects within the Labour Relations portfolio, including those involving data analytics, e.g. implementation of the new LR case management and reporting software. Using a strong understanding of the current issues in Labour Relations, the incumbent proactively identifies opportunities and makes recommendations to streamline reporting and tracking mechanisms.

The incumbent develops and maintains effective working relationships with union representatives and communicates with them to edit and update collective agreements.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED

I. EDUCATION:

University degree or equivalent combination of education and experience. Completion of/or working toward CHRP designation or related designation preferred. Some experience in Labour Relations is an asset.

EXPERIENCE:

Minimum three years’ related experience in a Human Resources setting with exposure to labour relations.

Experience with database design and implementation.

Experience in analyzing datasets from multiple sources and providing data-driven consultations to stakeholders. Robust experience with research methods, business process analysis, and report writing.

Experience leading or supporting data projects and initiatives.

Experience working with collective agreements, HR policies, principles and practices. Knowledge of the University’s policies and practices as they pertain to faculty members, librarians, and staff.

III. SKILLS:

Advanced skills in database design and maintenance. Advanced MS Office skills. Advanced knowledge of HR systems (HRIS, ServiceNow, SuccessFactors). Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and advanced research skills.

IV: OTHER:

Strong oral and written communication, interpersonal, analytical and problem-solving skills. Demonstrated organizational ability and attention to detail. Ability to take initiative. Demonstrated research and presentation skills.

Knowledge of quantitative and qualitative statistical analysis procedures. Ability to work effectively with multiple and conflicting priorities, often under pressure, and to meet deadlines. Commitment to service delivery and collaboration.
