Role: Manager, Mental Health Services and Psychiatry

Our team works collaboratively to improve patient access, health outcomes, and system sustainability through creative and integrated primary care services.
Position Summary The Manager, Mental Health Services and Psychiatry provides operational leadership for mental health and psychiatry services at Guelph FHT. This role leads the planning, implementation, evaluation, and continuous improvement of services that support community mental health and well-being. Using population health, quality improvement, and evidence-informed approaches, the Manager identifies emerging needs, develops innovative service models, strengthens service integration, and advances initiatives that improve access, patient experience, and health outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide operational leadership for mental health and psychiatry services, aligned with organizational priorities, community needs, and evidence-informed practice
- Lead, mentor, and manage Mental Health Counsellors, psychiatry clinic team members, and administrative staff in the delivery of high-quality, patient-centred care.
- Build effective relationships with physicians, clinical partners, and community organizations to strengthen shared-care processes, referral pathways, and service integration.
- Participate in quality improvement and change initiatives that strengthen care delivery, patient safety, integration, and sustainability of primary care- based mental health programs and services.
- Lead performance management processes and support staff development through regular coaching, goal setting, feedback, and identification of growth opportunities.
- Establish, monitor, evaluate, and report on key performance indicators, including access,
wait times, service utilization, quality, patient outcomes, and program performance.
- Oversee clinical and operational risk, patient safety practices, quality standards, privacy compliance, and related professional, ethical, and organizational requirements.
- Identify and lead opportunities for quality improvement, service innovation, and system integration that improve performance and patient outcomes.
- Use population health data, partner feedback, and environmental scanning to identify emerging needs, service gaps, and opportunities.
- Contribute to organizational planning, strategic decision-making, Annual Operating Plan activities, and management team initiatives.
- Build and maintain partnerships with community organizations, health care providers, and system partners to support integrated service delivery and improved outcomes.
- Model the LEADS in a Caring Environment leadership framework and support organizational change and ongoing professional development.
Qualifications:
- Undergraduate degree in a regulated health profession, health sciences, public health, health administration, or a related field; a Master’s degree is considered an asset.
- Registration in good standing with a relevant regulatory body, where applicable.
- Minimum five (5) years of clinical experience and five (5) years of progressive management experience in a health care environment.
- Excellent knowledge of the Mental Health Act, PHIPA, and community mental health resources.
- Demonstrated experience in population health planning, program development and evaluation, quality improvement, community engagement, and change leadership.
- Proven leadership in workforce planning, recruitment, performance management, and staff development.
- Experience developing and maintaining strategic partnerships across health care, community, and health system organizations.
- Strong knowledge of health care legislation, privacy requirements, clinical governance, and evidence-informed practice.
- Excellent leadership, communication, stakeholder engagement, and relationship-building skills.
- Experience with digital health technologies, including TELUS PS SUITE EMR and OCEAN eReferral, is considered an asset.

Salary Range: $93,539-$99,236
