Lambton Conveyor Limited is a leading manufacturer of grain handling and storage equipment. We are currently seeking a Mechanical Engineering Technologist at our Wallaceburg, Ontario location. The successful candidate will provide manufacturing support through the application of engineering principles to enhance productivity, efficiency, and product quality.
Responsibilities:
- Reporting to the Lead Product Engineer, the Mechanical Engineering Technologist will collaborate with all levels within the organization to support design and production initiatives.
Responsibilities for this position include:
- Create, edit and maintain CNC programs for punch presses, plasma and laser cutting machines
- Design, fabricate and implement customized tooling such as dies, fixtures, work supports, etc.
- Maintain/enhance engineering designs of mature product
- Support production improvements and equipment upgrades
- Develop manufacturing aides, standard operating procedures, and product routing sheets
- Provide technical support to manufacturing personnel
- Facilitate problem-solving activities
- Assist in product prototyping, process development and recent product design as required
- Implement corrective/preventive actions to support continuous improvement initiatives
Qualifications:
- College diploma in mechanical/manufacturing engineering or equivalent
- 3-5 years technical experience in a sheet metal manufacturing environment
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Working knowledge of Autodesk Inventor 3D CAD software or equivalent
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Exceptional team building and conflict resolution abilities
- Skilled in problem solving and lean manufacturing concepts
- Strong mechanical aptitude and a willingness to work hands on
- Experience in tool and die design, PLC programming, and SigmaNest software are assets
