The Red Deer Protective Safe House is seeking a caring and dedicated Mental Health Aide to support youth admitted to an involuntary detox and stabilization program. In this role, you will assist with daily living activities, help maintain a safe and structured environment, and support therapeutic and recreational programming that promotes wellness and engagement. Working within a multidisciplinary team, you will play an important part in creating a respectful, culturally safe space for youth during detox and early recovery. Description:

As a Mental Health Aide, you will work as a collaborative member of the multidisciplinary team to provide a welcoming and safe care environment. You will assist in the provision of direct patient/client care as delegated in a person-centered, recovery oriented and safe manner. In this position,



you will assist and / or promote independence to patients/clients in completing activities of daily living as well as assisting other health professionals with providing treatments and observing and reporting relevant patient/client information to professional staff. You will assist new patients/clients and families with orientation, and assist in the general support of the work area.

Required Qualifications: Completion of Grade 12. A combination of education and experience satisfactory to the employer will also be considered.

Additional Required Qualifications: Minimum 2 years of experience working with at risk populations in an addiction and/or mental health setting. Non-Violent Crisis Intervention training and familiarity with Motivational Interviewing techniques required. Understanding of cultural safety and indigenous health perspectives. Strong communication skills and the ability to build rapport while maintaining qualified boundaries is required.

Preferred Qualifications: Knowledge of addiction and recovery principles, harm reduction and trauma informed care. Recovery Coach training. Experience working in acute psychiatric inpatient settings, emergency department and/or medically supported detoxification units.
