Our on-call team helps ensure children continue to have safe, engaging, and positive experiences when additional support is needed across our programs. As part of our on-call Child Care team, you'll have the opportunity to work with different age groups, teams, and locations while building valuable experience and meaningful relationships with children, families, and fellow educators.

What You Will Do

Depending on your qualifications and the program you are supporting, you will:

- Support the delivery of high-quality, play-based child care programs.
- Assist in planning and delivering engaging programming aligned with YMCA values and curriculum.
- Maintain appropriate supervision and help ensure provincial licensing, health, and safety requirements are followed.
- Build positive and meaningful relationships with children, families, and colleagues.
- Actively engage with children ages 1 to 12 as a play partner and learning supporter.
- Support activities such as literacy, math, science, creative play, physical activity, and team-building.
- Encourage positive, inclusive, and respectful interactions among children.




- Adapt to the routines and needs of different YMCA Child Care locations and age groups.
- Collaborate with educators and program leaders to create welcoming environments where children can learn, grow, and belong.
- Participate in YMCA community initiatives and programs.

What You Bring

We are hiring candidates with a variety of child care qualifications and experience.

Program Leader

- Must be at least 19 years of age in accordance with provincial licensing requirements.
- Minimum 20 hours of relevant training in child development, health, safety, or guidance, such as a Responsible Adult Certificate.
- Valid First Aid Certificate with CPR Level B or C.
- A positive and enthusiastic approach to working with children.

Early Childhood Educator Assistant (ECEA)

- Valid ECEA certification recognized in British Columbia.
- Valid First Aid Certificate with CPR Level B or C.
- Passion for supporting children's learning, development, and well-being.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with Early Childhood Educators and other members of the Child Care team.

Early Childhood Educator (ECE)

- Valid Early Childhood Educator certification recognized in British Columbia.
- Valid First Aid Certificate with CPR Level B or C.
- Knowledge of child development and developmentally appropriate programming.
- Ability to plan and support engaging, child-centred early learning experiences.

For All Positions

- Reliable transportation and the ability to work at multiple YMCA Child Care locations is considered an asset.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.




- Flexibility to work with different age groups, programs, and teams.
- Valid Class 4 driver's licence is considered an asset.
