Job Summary & Key Responsibilities

Multiple part-time academics are needed to teach Spanish 1022.03: Beginning Spanish II in the Winter 2027 term (January 1, 2027 – April 30, 2027). Instructors are needed for the following sections:

- Section 3, currently scheduled: TR 14:35 – 15:55
- Section 4, currently scheduled: MW 13:05 – 14:25
- Section 5, currently scheduled: TR 16:05 – 17:25

Applicants are asked to identify in their application which section(s) they are interested in teaching. Please note these courses are taught in-person.

Course Description This course builds on the foundational skills developed in SPAN 1021 , expanding students’ ability to communicate in Spanish in a wider range of everyday situations. Through interactive and task-based activities, students will enhance their listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills while exploring topics like travel, past experiences, future plans, and opinions. By the end of the course, students will be able to participate in short conversations, understand more detailed texts, and write structured paragraphs.

The part-time academic will be responsible for all aspects of teaching and administering the class, including admission, lectures, test preparation, evaluation, and electronic submission of grades. Instructors are expected to maintain reliable and constant communication with the administration of the Department, to be available for two hours per week for consultation with students, and to have students fill out the evaluation questionnaire at the end of the course.

Qualifications/Requirements Of Position

- Applicants should have native or near-native fluency in English and Spanish and possess a graduate degree in a relevant area.




- Candidates should demonstrate strong teaching skills, including communicative and student-centered language teaching approaches, grammar instruction, commitment to student learning, and a strong sense of personal responsibility.
- Previous teaching experience at the post-secondary level will be an asset.

Salary Range/Pay Rate Per CUPE Collective Agreement

All offers of employment as a Part-Time Academic are conditional upon sufficient student enrolment in the course and approval by the University.
