We are a Canada-based technology consulting team developing Valueverse, a new educational story and learning IP for children.

Valueverse uses engaging stories, characters, choices and real-world situations to help children develop practical life skills such as decision-making, problem-solving, resource management, responsibility and value creation.

We are currently looking for a Part-Time Children’s Story Editor / Writer to join us for potential long-term collaboration as we build our English-language story library.

What You’ll Work On

You may be involved in:

- Writing original children’s stories based on provided themes, characters and story briefs Editing and improving existing story drafts Strengthening character consistency, dialogue, pacing and emotional engagement Adapting stories for different age groups Helping turn educational concepts into engaging stories without making them feel like lessons Working within an established fictional world and character system Providing creative feedback as our story universe continues to develop

Target Age Groups

Our current priority is

Ages 3–5Short picture-book-style stories, generally up to approximately 600 words

Ages 6–8Short children’s stories, generally up to approximately 1,200 words

Illustration is not required. We are specifically looking for strong storytelling, editing and character-writing ability.

Who We’re Looking For

We would especially like to hear from people with experience in:

- Children’s books or picture books Children’s fiction Children’s publishing or editing Educational storytelling Animation or children’s scriptwriting Early childhood or elementary education Character-driven storytelling

Published experience is welcome but not required.

What matters most is whether you understand how children at different ages think, speak, react, make choices and grow.

Selection Process

Round 1 — Portfolio Review

We will review your background, writing samples and overall fit.

Round 2 — Story Test

Selected candidates will be invited to complete a short story-writing test based on a limited Valueverse character and story brief.

The purpose of the test is to evaluate your ability to:

- Write appropriately for the target age group Understand and apply existing characters Maintain character personality and voice Write natural dialogue Build a explicit and engaging story arc Handle pacing and emotional engagement Integrate a learning theme naturally without becoming preachy Follow an established story world while still contributing original ideas

Unless separately agreed in writing, test submissions are used for recruitment evaluation only.

Long-Term Collaboration

Candidates who successfully complete the selection process may be invited to join us as a long-term part-time story editor/writer.

This is not a one-off writing assignment. We are building a growing children’s IP and story universe, so we are particularly interested in writers who enjoy developing characters and stories consistently over time.
