About Us

With a strong focus on teaching, research and clinical service, the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine fully supports the mission and values of the Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry, Western University, the London Health Sciences Centre and St. Joseph’s Health Care London. Our vision is to provide state-of the-art diagnostic pathology services while achieving excellence in pathology research, training and education.

Responsibilities

The Proctor supports instructors in the secure and impartial administration of examinations, including written, multiple-choice, and electronically completed exams.

- Prepare the examination room, including seating arrangement, permitted materials, and required forms.
- Verify student identification, confirming that the card matches the name on the exam and belongs to the student presenting it.
- Distribute examination materials and read standardized instructions, announcing start time, time remaining, and stop time.
- Supervise students throughout the examination, circulating the room and maintaining a quiet, orderly environment.
- Monitor for, document, and report suspected academic misconduct to the instructor or exam office in accordance with institutional policy.
- Manage late arrivals, washroom breaks, and early departures according to established procedures.
- Respond appropriately to emergencies, evacuations, and technical failures during electronic examinations.




- Collect all examination materials and required forms from each student, confirm the count, safeguard the materials, and submit them for marking.

Notes: Preference will be given to candidates who have completed coursework in pathology or a related health science discipline, or who have previously supported pathology examinations.

Qualifications

Education

- No Degree, Diploma, or Professional Designation required

Experience

- 1 year of experience providing customer service

- Ability to employ a systematic and efficient approach to work
- Ability to confront issues or situations in an objective manner
- Strong verbal communication skills
- Ability to work in a manner that models best practices in confidentiality standards
- Ability to apply critical thinking to evaluate information and make appropriate decisions
- Ability to maintain a positive, outgoing attitude with genuine customer service orientation
- Computer skills with the ability to learn and use software programs
