Restaurant Manager – Concord Room

Concord Room, a new restaurant from Harlo Entertainment and Big Hug Hospitality, is a classic neighbourhood dining room built around food you want to eat often. Sit down for a shrimp cocktail and a martini at the bar. Grab a beef dip or burger for lunch, in and out if you’re on the clock. Stay for dinner and have some Miami cut beef ribs, grilled fish with dill butter, or chicken paprikash over a bottle of wine.

It’s a room that knows when you’re in a hurry and when you’re not. Nice ingredients, cooked well, with everything happening as it should. We take our cues from the grill houses of another era, but keep things a little more relaxed. The easygoing cousin to Linny’s, without the white tablecloths.

We’re looking for an experienced Restaurant Manager to lead daily operations and help bring Concord Room to life. You’ll support the team, look after the guest experience, and manage the details that keep the restaurant running well. This posting is for an existing vacancy.

What You’ll Do

- Champion the brand’s vision and values and contribute to maintaining a strong culture and healthy working environment.
- Uphold our standards at all times and treat everyone with courtesy and respect.
- Cost Management: daily invoices, prudent decision-making.
- Labour Management: appropriate staffing levels to achieve the highest service standards
- POS Programming: POS must be updated with the current menu; ensure proper modifiers are listed for ease of communication with the kitchen.
- PMIX Analysis: identify low-selling items consistently and think of ways to boost sales (promos, pre-shift knowledge, staff tasting).

- Sales Inputs: complete ‘Hero Docs’.
- Restaurant Tech (clover/SW/etc.): Execute rollouts and overall support tech initiatives, suggesting improvements and lessons learned.
- Elevate service and give final approval for FOH staff to graduate training.
- Prepare and implement standard operating procedures, coordinate restaurant operations during each shift, and determine and implement operating improvements.
- Manage all aspects of staff performance in accordance with established service standards, and ensure staff know and adhere to established steps of service and service standards.
- Control Profit & Loss (i.e., plan attainment) by following cash control/security procedures, maintaining inventory, managing labour, reviewing financial reports, and taking appropriate actions.
- Monitor adherence to health, safety, and hygiene standards within the location; ensure compliance with restaurant security procedures, including alcohol regulations; ensure a safe working environment by facilitating safe work behaviours of the team and guests; maintain a protected, secure, and healthy facility environment by establishing, following, and enforcing sanitation standards and procedures; comply with health and legal regulations.
- Maintain restaurant cleanliness and uphold aesthetic standards.

- Organize and create venue leadership schedules for approval. Monitor staff schedules and ensure that budgeted labour costs are met.
- Maintain accountability for all internal controls around invoices, cash, and other payment handling and procedures.
- Interact with guests to ensure all inquiries, guest recovery, and complaints are handled promptly, providing a best-in-class guest experience.
- Create and maintain a PX list.
- Execute marketing and promotional activities in coordination with our Marketing Team.
- Appropriately adapt to seasonal changes and create and manage relevant initiatives.
- Arrange for maintenance and repairs of equipment and services.
- Ensure repairs, maintenance, and preventative maintenance plans for the space.
- Recruit, interview, and hire team members; conduct performance appraisals, take disciplinary action, motivate and train.
- Assess staffing requirements continuously to identify current needs.
- Review weekly reservations and events.
- Host and lead weekly manager meetings.

What You’ll Need

- Prior management experience in the restaurant industry and experience in upscale environments is preferred.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to work extended hours, on foot.
- Knowledge of various operational systems. Bonus if you are familiar with any of the following: Silverware, Push, Actual or TripleSeat.
- Excellent customer service skills.

What we offer

- Prospect to grow within our organization as we continue to expand our restaurant group.
- Full-time group health benefits after probation.
- Daily staff meal.
- Work alongside an experienced culinary leadership team in a collaborative, supportive environment.
