Fintex is looking for a Senior Technical Delivery Manager to take end-to-end delivery ownership across a complex enterprise financial-services engagement.
This is not a traditional Engineering Manager role, and it is not a pure Project Manager position. We are looking for someone who combines the delivery discipline of a strong program or project leader with the technical credibility of someone who has previously worked as a software engineer, technical lead or architect.
Reporting to the Chief Product Officer, you will coordinate a cross-functional Fintex delivery team of approximately 9-10 people across Canada and Europe, working within an onshore/offshore model and closely with the client’s own product and technology teams.
You will sit between our client and Fintex's Product, Engineering and QA teams, translating priorities into an executable delivery plan, keeping technical and operational dependencies moving, and ensuring risks are surfaced and resolved before they become delivery problems.
You will bring Product, Engineering and QA together around a single delivery plan, owning the cross-functional dependencies, decisions and execution required to deliver successfully for the client.
The immediate focus will be a large wealth-management technology engagement.
What you'll own
Client and delivery leadership
- Serve as the primary day-to-day delivery contact between the client and Fintex teams across Product, Engineering, QA and technical leadership.
- Own sprint and release planning, delivery commitments, milestones, dependencies, risks and escalations.
- Own the client-facing delivery operating rhythm across status, RAID, decisions, release readiness and escalation, ensuring senior Fintex leadership is pulled in only where executive, commercial or strategic decisions are required.
- Translate client priorities and evolving requirements into a transparent, executable plan for the Fintex team.
- Maintain a reliable view of delivery status and ensure risks, blockers and changes are surfaced early rather than at the end of a sprint.
- Drive cross-team issues to resolution where ownership spans Fintex, client teams and third-party or enterprise platforms.
- Facilitate difficult delivery conversations, challenge unrealistic commitments and ensure both client and Fintex owners follow through on agreed actions.
Technical delivery
- Understand system architecture and technical trade-offs well enough to challenge estimates, identify dependencies and participate credibly in design and architecture discussions.
- Work closely with frontend, backend, QA and technical leads on integration blockers, technical debt, environments, API dependencies, quality gates and release readiness.
- Help determine when an issue is a development defect, requirement gap, integration problem, environment issue or scope change, and ensure it reaches the correct owner.
- Ensure client-facing dates and commitments reflect the full delivery path, including engineering, technical review, Product, QA, environments and external dependencies, and are validated before being committed to the client.
- Support strong collaboration across distributed onshore and offshore engineering teams without taking over the engineering ownership of the team's technical leads.
The environment includes modern web and distributed systems technologies such as Angular, React, Java/Spring Boot, Node.js, Python, GraphQL,
REST APIs, microservices, Kafka, relational databases, cloud/container platforms and automated testing frameworks.
You will not be expected to code day-to-day, but you should be technically strong enough to understand how these systems fit together, ask the right questions and challenge assumptions when required.
Delivery process and governance
- Make practical SDLC disciplines work in day-to-day delivery: story readiness, estimation, development and code review, Product review, QA readiness, defect governance and release readiness.
- Drive delivery at the feature and capability level, not only the story level, ensuring cross-story dependencies, end-to-end workflows, integration points and validation are understood before a capability is considered complete.
- Ensure requirements, acceptance criteria, technical dependencies and key decisions are clear and documented before work is committed, and that decisions made through refinement or client discussions are reflected in the delivery plan and backlog.
- Maintain effective RAID, status and escalation processes across Fintex and client teams, ensuring risks, decisions, actions and changes are clearly documented with owners and dates.
- Coordinate capacity, handoffs and coverage across teams and time zones so internal resourcing challenges do not become client delivery problems.
Commercial and engagement ownership
- Track delivery against the agreed Statement of Work, milestones and scope.
- Identify scope changes, client-owned dependencies, resourcing needs and margin risk early, and make the resulting scope, timeline or change-control trade-offs explicit before they become delivery issues.
- Distinguish agreed delivery from incremental or changed requirements and support appropriate change-control conversations.
- Help build client confidence through transparent, predictable delivery and support the case for future phases and expanded work.
What we're looking for
- 8+ years of experience in software or technology delivery, including at least 3 years leading delivery of complex software products or programs for enterprise clients.
- A strong technical foundation, ideally a former software engineer, technical lead or architect who has moved into delivery leadership.
- Demonstrated experience leading cross-functional delivery across Engineering, Product, QA and business stakeholders.
- Strong understanding of modern software architecture, APIs, integrations, distributed systems and the software development lifecycle.
- Experience working directly with senior client stakeholders and taking ownership of delivery commitments, risks and escalations.
- Ability to challenge technical estimates and assumptions without needing to be the person writing the code.
- Experience managing dependencies across multiple teams, systems or vendors in complex enterprise environments.
- Commercial awareness, including experience with Statements of Work, scope management and change control.
- Excellent written and verbal communication and the ability to bring structure and clarity to ambiguous situations.
- Comfortable working in a smaller consulting environment where leaders wear multiple hats and personally own outcomes.
- Legally eligible to work in Canada and able to successfully complete Fintex and client-required background screening.
Strong assets
- Canadian banking, wealth management, capital markets or other regulated financial-services experience.
- Consulting or professional-services delivery experience.
- Experience working with distributed onshore/offshore engineering teams.
- Familiarity with environments using Java/Spring Boot, Angular, React, Node.js, microservices, APIs, event-driven systems and modern CI/CD practices.
- Experience operating within highly governed enterprise technology environments.
What success looks like
Within your first 90 days, you will have established yourself as the trusted day-to-day delivery counterpart for both the client and the Fintex team.
There will be a clear and reliable view of commitments, risks, dependencies and decisions; cross-team issues will have clear owners and paths to resolution; and delivery will be managed at the end-to-end capability level rather than through disconnected workstreams.
You will own the day-to-day delivery relationship end to end, escalating to Fintex leadership when executive, commercial or strategic decisions are required.
Most importantly, the client should experience Fintex as a team that is organized, technically credible and predictable in how it delivers.
Interview Process
Our standard process includes three focused conversations:
1. People & Experience: 30 minutes
A discussion about your background, technical-to-delivery progression, enterprise client experience, financial services exposure, motivation, availability and compensation expectations.
1. Technical Delivery: 45-60 minutes
A practical discussion with a senior technical lead using a realistic delivery scenario. This is not a coding interview; we’re assessing technical fluency, dependency and risk thinking, judgment, and how you turn technical uncertainty into a credible delivery plan.
1. Leadership & Client Delivery: 45-60 minutes
A final conversation with senior Fintex leadership focused on client ownership, escalations, delivery commitments, scope and change control, commercial awareness and operating autonomously in a consulting environment. Compensation & Benefits
- CAD $165,000–$190,000 base salary, depending on experience and scope
- Primarily remote role within Canada, with occasional onsite days at the client’s downtown Toronto office as required.
- Health Spending Account (HSA) available after 3 months
- High-autonomy environment with direct access to senior leadership and real ownership over outcomes
- Small, fast-moving team where you can make decisions, shape how delivery works and have visible impact with major financial-services clients
- Less bureaucracy, fewer layers and a strong bias toward trust, accountability and getting things done
- Prospect to work across complex banking and wealth-management programs while helping shape how Fintex scales its delivery model
We’re a growing company, so this role is best suited to someone who enjoys the pace, ownership and flexibility of a startup-style environment while working on large, enterprise-scale technology programs.
