Job Summary

Forge Services is seeking a mechanically knowledgeable Service Advisor / Service Coordinator to take ownership of the day-to-day flow of service work.

This is not a conventional automotive service-writing position. Forge Services works on a broad mix of heavy equipment, trucks, agricultural equipment and other machinery, with a significant amount of mobile diagnostic and breakdown work. Jobs often cannot be priced from a labour guide and priorities can change quickly.

This is an opportunity to play a key role in a growing local business, coordinating customers, technicians, parts suppliers, estimates, scheduling and invoicing while keeping a clear understanding of the status of every active job.

The successful candidate will work closely with the owner initially to learn the business, customers and systems, with the expectation of becoming increasingly independent and taking ownership of the service coordination function.

Position Details

Wage: $22–$28 per hour, depending on experience

Vacation: Forge Services offers three weeks of paid vacation from your first year of employment, accrued throughout the year. Vacation can be taken as it is earned, subject to normal scheduling and approval.

Hours: Monday–Friday, approximately 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. This can be flexible for the right candidate.

Service Area: Invermere, B.C., serving the Columbia Valley including Radium Hot Springs, Edgewater, Fairmont Hot Springs, and surrounding communities.

Work Location: Primarily home-based initially, with the potential to transition to a shop-based role as Forge Services expands. Local travel will be required as needed.

Driving: A valid B.C. driver's licence is required. Access to a reliable vehicle for local business travel is preferred, but alternative arrangements can be made. Pick ups and drop offs will be mainly to and from parts store,



delivery locations and work addresses in Invermere, with occasional travel to Radium or Windermere.

Equipment: Forge Services will provide a dedicated laptop, monitor and other required computer equipment for the role.

The Right Person

We are looking for someone who is mechanically knowledgeable, highly organized and comfortable taking ownership of a busy and changing workload.

You will receive hands-on training and work closely with the owner to learn Forge Services' processes, customers and systems. This is a complex role and we understand that becoming familiar with the business will take time.

At the same time, this is not a role where you will simply be given a list of tasks to complete each day. We are looking for someone who can learn the operation, anticipate what needs to happen next, identify issues before they become problems and keep work moving without constant direction.

As you become familiar with the business, you will be expected to take increasing ownership of the day-to-day service coordination function.

Job Duties

- Manage service schedule and workload.
- Triage incoming work based on urgency.
- Coordinate mobile breakdown work.
- Maintain accurate work-order status.
- Proactively update customers.
- Prepare customer estimates based on technician findings.
- Obtain and document customer authorization.
- Source, order and track parts.
- Coordinate jobs waiting for parts.
- Reschedule work as circumstances change.
- Ensure upcoming jobs are ready.




- Review technician notes and follow up on missing information where required.
- Prepare customer-facing invoice summaries.
- Invoice completed work promptly.
- Follow up on overdue accounts.
- Coordinate supplier paperwork.
- Track planned fleet maintenance.
- Identify stalled work without waiting for instruction.
- Identify opportunities to improve processes and keep work moving efficiently.

Requirements

- Valid B.C. driver's licence.
- Local to the Invermere, B.C., and surrounding communities including Radium Hot Springs, Edgewater or Fairmont Hot Springs.
- Strong mechanical knowledge is required; formal mechanic certification is not required.
- Experience with heavy-duty, agricultural, truck or industrial equipment is an asset.
- Excellent organization and attention to detail.
- Strong customer communication skills.
- Ability to prioritize changing workloads.
- Comfortable dealing with parts suppliers.
- Confident using computer-based job-management systems.
- Able to work independently.
- Takes ownership of problems and follows them through.
- Comfortable following up on outstanding information and payments.

We are more interested in relevant experience than a specific number of years in the industry. Applicants should be prepared to describe their mechanical/equipment background and any experience with service coordination, parts, scheduling, customers, work orders or similar responsibilities.

Pay: $22.00-$28.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40.0 per week
