Who we are:

Join the Strategic Initiatives and Policy team, a collaborative branch that helps the Department of Tourism, Heritage and Culture turn priorities into action. We provide advice and coordination in strategy, policy, performance reporting, process improvement, right-to-information requests, appointments to agencies, boards and commissions, internal communications and legislative business. In this role, your work will help leaders respond accurately, clearly and on time.

What you will do:

Reporting to the Director of Strategic Initiatives and Policy, the successful candidate will be the department`s central coordinator for legislative business and related briefing materials. They will bring together information from across the department, apply sound judgement and quality control, and ensure submissions to the Executive Council Office are accurate, clear and delivered on time.

The key responsibilities will include:

- Monitoring Legislative Assembly activity each day and identifying matters that may affect the department
- Tracking, assessing and coordinating the department`s response to legislative business
- Preparing and coordinating legislative and ministerial briefing books
- Coordinating ministerial statements and weekly legislative reports
- Reviewing information and advice for quality, consistency and timely distribution
- Coordinating and advising on ministerial or Crown Corporation responses to Notices of Motion, Petitions, Debatable Motions and other legislative requests
- Leading the coordination, quality review and publication of the department`s annual report
- Monitoring departmental websites and coordinating accurate, timely updates
- Maintaining the department`s annual calendar and stakeholder list with support from colleagues
- Helping to coordinate ministerial briefing materials for federal,



provincial and territorial (FPT) and other intergovernmental meetings
- Contributing to policy research, analysis and other priority projects as assigned by the director
- Becoming a Commissioner of Oaths, with support provided to complete the appointment process
- Other related duties as assigned

Your attitude, skills and interests are just as important as your area of study. We are looking for diverse backgrounds that bring a combination of the following:

Required Competencies:

- University degree in Arts, Journalism, Social Sciences, Public Administration or a related field
- Experience writing, editing and quality-checking materials for different audiences
- Ability to use common office technology, software and applications to organize information and produce professional documents
- An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.

Written and spoken competence in English and French is required. Please state your language capability.

Wage:

Pay Band 2 - $1,894.00 to $2,644.00 biweekly

Work environment:

- Office location: Marysville Place, Fredericton
- Open office layout
- Hours of work: 8:15 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday to Friday
- Evening or weekend work may be required during busy legislative periods (March to June and October to December)
