SAGKEENG CHILD AND FAMILY SERVICES (SCFS) is looking for a FULL-TIME Speech-Language Pathologist Assistant (SLPA) to support our Speech-Language Pathologist in providing services to children and youth. Working under the supervision and direction of the Speech-Language Pathologist, the successful candidate will assist in the implementation of treatment plans, support therapy activities, monitor client progress, and provide administrative and clinical support to enhance service delivery.

Requirements

- Completion of a recognized Speech-Language Pathologist Assistant (SLPA) or Communicative Disorders Assistant (CDA) diploma program, or related program.
- Minimum one (1) year previous experience working as a Speech-Language Pathology assistant.
- Equivalent combinations of educational experience and relevant work experience may be considered.
- Experience working in an Indigenous organization or with Indigenous communities is a strong asset.
- An understanding and awareness of the strengths and challenges of Indigenous children, youth, families and communities.
- Demonstrated intermediate level knowledge of Microsoft Office (i.e. Word, Excel, Power Point, SharePoint, Teams) and online tools.
- Exceptional organizational and time management skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently while following professional direction and supervision.
- Commitment to positive workplace communication and adherence to professional boundaries.
- Demonstrated commitment to continuous life-long learning.
- Flexible work schedule (able to work evenings)
- Travel is required

Responsibilities

- Implement speech and language intervention plans developed by the supervising Speech-Language Pathologist.




- Deliver therapy activities and exercises with children and youth as directed.
- Assist clients in developing communication, language, articulation, social communication, and literacy skills.
- Prepare therapy materials, resources, and activities for individual and group sessions.
- Reinforce therapeutic goals and strategies in various settings, including homes, schools, and community environments.
- Model communication strategies for parents, care providers and other support persons as directed by the Speech-Language Pathologist.
- Promote culturally safe and trauma-informed services
- Observe and document client participation, progress, and responses to intervention.
- Maintain accurate client records and treatment documentation.
- Document and report observations and concerns to the supervising Speech-Language Pathologist.
- Coordinate appointments, scheduling, and follow-up communications with families.
- Work collaboratively with the Speech-Language Pathologist and multidisciplinary team members.
- Participate in case discussions, team meetings, and career development opportunities.
- Promote positive and respectful relationships with children, families, schools, and community partners.
- Support culturally safe and family-centered service delivery practices.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualified candidates will be required to undergo a criminal record check, child abuse registry check, and a prior contact check as a condition of employment.
