The Opportunity

We are seeking a highly sharp, accurate, and disciplined Survey Detailer to take complete ownership of the surveying and detailing department across all active projects. Operating out of our Burnaby office, you will serve as the operational backbone for our field crews—translating blueprints into layout-ready reality. What You’ll Do (Core Responsibilities)

- Department Ownership: Manage and lead RTO’s internal surveying and detailing department, serving as the central point for drawing production and distribution across multiple live projects.
- Layout & Drafting Production: Produce and issue precise layout/control drawings, AutoCAD files, and formwork shop drawings to site surveyors and layout crews.
- Formwork Engineering Support: Generate optimized formwork shop drawings and panel layouts (Doka, PERI, Efco, Symons, etc.) directly from structural and architectural plans.
- Material & Quantity Take-offs: Calculate accurate material take-offs for formwork panels, ties, shoring, and accessories to keep pour schedules fully supplied.
- Proactive Conflict Resolution: Read and interpret complex structural/architectural drawings to actively catch discrepancies early, outline drawing conflicts, and generate clear RFIs before they delay the field.




- Cross-Functional Coordination: Collaborate directly with General Contractors (GCs), Site Superintendents, engineering teams, and field layout personnel to seamlessly manage rapid drawing revisions.
- Document Control: Maintain strict revision control and drawing management discipline across a dynamic digital file ecosystem.

What You Bring (Required Skills & Qualifications)

- Industry Experience: Proven survey detailing experience coupled with a solid understanding of concrete construction sequencing (walls, columns, slabs, parkades, core walls). Formwork detailing knowledge is required.
- Technical Literacy: Proficient in AutoCAD and/or Tekla. Familiarity with Revit is considered an asset.
- Project Background: Experience working on ICI (Industrial, Commercial, Institutional) or high-rise concrete construction projects is a strong asset.
- Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with the BC Building Code and formwork engineering/safety standards.
- Technical Blueprint Skills: Elite ability to interpret structural/architectural blueprints, engineering stamps, and manage the RFI process.
- Digital File Discipline: Solid computer literacy including precise digital document handling, clean cloud file management (OneDrive naming conventions), and high-volume Outlook coordination.
- Operational Mindset: Ability to work exceptionally fast under pressure without sacrificing geometric accuracy. Our field sites move quickly and don’t wait.
