Omnitrans , part of a Fastfrate Group, is currently searching for a Tariff Analyst to join our Technical & Consulting Services in Montreal or Toronto.

Purpose of the job:

- To ensure accuracy and compliance at all levels of Import entries processed in their respective Import Brokerage Team, through profile maintenance and quality control procedures.
- To educate Processors and Client Representatives regarding classification and technical process issues related to specific importers’ needs.
- To provide classification and duty rate advice to Importers upon request.

Responsibilities

- Conduct research within the Customs Tariff book and various other sources in order to determine the proper classification codes for imported goods.
- Maintain and update client profiles with proper classification codes in order to process shipments; enter information into the computer system.
- Review, correct and adjust files rejected by Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA)/Participating Government Agencies (PGAs)
- Perform quality control review of import declarations that are flagged by the operating system.
- Answer client and co-worker questions regarding duty rates, tariff classification codes, and any other Import Technical information as required.
- Maintain client processing instruction profile notes.



Review periodically to ensure instructions are understood by processors.
- Interface and coordinate with Technical Consulting department for complex or time-consuming research.

What You Bring

- College degree
- Certified Customs Specialist (CCS Designation) is a plus
- 5+ years of comparable customs and classification experience
- Extensive knowledge of the Customs Tariff, Explanatory Notes, etc.
- Extensive knowledge of Customs regulations
- Ability to multi-task, in detail, with high volume
- Intermediate knowledge of MS Excel
- Detail oriented, highly organized, proactive with a strong sense of urgency.
- Good communication skills
- Bilingual (French, English) is a plus
